My friend Pete Stentiford, steward @ Whitby Rugby Club, told me the story of his grandparents, two jazz sax players, in summer 2015, when I was on the door for a concert during the Folk Festival.  It stayed with me, and this summer I asked if it would be OK to do a song about them.   He said yes; so here it is.  I'm a song writer in the folk tradition, but tried to get a jazz feel into this one!  Mr Bruce Rafeek on piano!

Mitch And Johnny

Singer / songwriter for the past forty years, playing guitar, fiddle, accordion, melodeon, sax, flute and several other things that slip my memory.  I ran a ceilidh band for many years, originally playing piano, then fiddle, then melodeon and finally calling the dances.  Now I play trombone in a brass band, guitar round the folk clubs and fiddle and accordion with the Irish band Kiss the Blarney.  All good fun...
