Gregory Issacs - Mr. Cop

The works of reggae’s “Extra Classic” singer, Gregory Isaacs, certainly calls for a special tribute from the BBR crew. With close to 70 albums and hundreds of compilation releases, ‘The Cool Ruler’ started his music career in the late sixties and pleased millions with his charm on stage until passing last year in October, 2011. 

This mix here, called Vintage Cool Ruler, comes from the morning I learned of Gregory's passing. It highlights the early years of Gregory when hit singles were recorded with Jamaica’s award wining studio band, Soul Syndicate. You’ll also get a nice dose of hit selections from the late 70’s and early 80’s recorded with studio musicians Sly & Robbie and also the Roots Radics.
