 This song Melanin, to me is a song that promotes self awareness, self awakening, and self love for people of color. I want the listeners to be able to digest as well as turn up to the words that are being said. In light of what's going on in todays society, I want people to understand that we should all be treated equally, and that PEACE & LOVE should be promoted as opposed to VIOLENCE & HATE. WE ALL NEED TO WAKE UP !!!
This track will be a single off my upcoming project titled Food 4 Thought (release date TBA).

recorded this back when i was on the WMPR 90.1 fm radio in Jackson Mississippi playing reggae on Saturday nights from 6pm to 6am with my O.G., International Farmer.

he was able to record some of the sessions on cassettes, which were then converted to a cds, which i then mixed back down to share digitally. 

was a really special time being able to play music that was being heard all across Central Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. (first time in my life i heard Grace Jones and Bad Brains being played back to back ;)

a really close friend/comrade who would come up to the studio w/ us while we recorded transitioned soon after we did this. miss him dearly. 

thought 4/20/20 would be a perfect opportunity to release/share these sessions with friends, fam, supporters quarantined rn. 

hope it lifts your spirit as you get lifted (if you partake in the festivities of this holiday/no pressure no worries lol)
