Hello again peeps! another mix series instalment to wrap yer lugs around 

This one is from our good friend and bit of a local legend, Scott Langley. Based in our hometown Inverness, You may have caught him at one of our garden parties last year but if you didn't, there's a good chance you would have seen him play somewhere before...

Scott started off his DJ career all the way back in 92' and has played an array of gigs and venues in his time since then. From parties in Scottish cities such as Aberdeen, Dundee and Glasgow. To places much further afield; London, Tokyo and Melbourne! Not a bad CV at all.

Scott is largely a vinyl only DJ with a vast amount of experience behind him and it absolutely shows with this mix that he has graciously provided for us. It's a mix based around house music but has a few curveballs thrown in.  We're sure as hell you will all enjoy this one!

DJ Nipper Presents - The Art Of Mixing Part One

Some of my favorite progressive house tunes from around late 1993/ 1994. Back then I was a regular at clubs like Golden, Swoon, Naughty But Nice, and Lakota. I was also mesmerized  by mix tapes coming out around the time from DJ's like Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and loads of resident DJ's who never quite got the same acknowledgement as the headliners (I can remember resident DJ Grayson Shipley playing a set at Lakota in Bristol that would give any big name prog DJ a run for their money back in 1994!).

As always, I've mixed this on two Technics 1210's and an Allen & Heath Xone 22 Mixer just as God intended - No computer trickery or magic sync'ing allowed..

Welcome to the first in my Progressive House Classics mix series, each of which will focus on a particular year of record release, somewhere between 1992 - 1996 - My halcyon years of clubbing and enjoyment of Progressive House. 

This mix was inspired by 2 particular Sasha mix tapes that I got my very young hands on in 1992, his classics Universe set and a Chuff Chuff set. It was the Chuff Chuff tape that really opened my eyes to the power of harmonic mixing, and as a tribute to that mind blowing moment I have blatantly mixed the exact 3 tunes in the exact same order than blew me away so much when I first heard them (Sublime, La Tour & Floor Federation). Imitation is the biggest form of flattery after all!

Hopefully the music will trigger a few tucked away memories that you had forgotten all about, it certainly did for me.
