In celebration of 11,000; read it again, Eleven THOUSAND lovely subscribers, I decided to do something I promised I never would: make a remix of my own work! A double VIP remix, as it were. We’re approaching the end of this particular chapter of the Tavi and Scratch series, with one more single to come out to wrap up our story as it is now. That’s still in the works, but in the meantime, chew on this wackiness for a bit. No download until the E.P. is finished, though!

Both Rhyme Flow and Nowacking have been doing their part to get “On Hold” performed live at all the big conventions (most of which are too far away for me to attend :-( ) so it was an absolute pleasure to get in touch with Nowacking and have her lend her Vinyl Scratchiness to this remix. And then there’s Leafrunner, a wicked guitarist and an excellent composer in his own right. Definitely check out his channel with the link above!

YourEnigma - Redial (Feat. LeafRunner and Nowacking)

Vinyl had grown uncomfortably familiar with the metronomic pulse of the busy tone in her ear. Octavia's new contract with the Canterlot Philharmonic constituted distant gigs, long hours and short conversations between them. The DJ's typical cool had been ever so slightly marred by this erosion of communication. It bothered her more than she'd ever admit, the reasons for which she struggled to understand.

Welcome to the next chapter in this continually growing Tavi and Scratch series. The muse of these two characters has become something of a platform for me to experiment with new sounds, techniques and styles and this track certainly represents a departure from previous entries. It is also by far the most vividly narrative of the series and I have to give SO MUCH credit to Rhyme Flow who has proven himself time and time again to be quite simply one of the most substantial rapping artists in any scene. And he can SING!


YourEnigma - On Hold (Feat. Rhyme Flow)

Weeks turned to months as a grueling concert schedule among the bustle of the Canterlot elite left the cellist too breathless to bask in adulation. Yet as tired as she was, sleep simply wouldn't come. Weary, moistened eyes again turned to the display on her phone and scanned the list of messages. It had been a week since her falling out with the DJ, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to take some kind of action. The umbrage she took towards being called "uncaring" and "indifferent" still lingered with her. But even stronger was the urge for reconciliation. What a bizarre friendship this had turned out to be. Or maybe it was something more altogether? She bit her lip. Whatever the case, she knew this much: it was something worth running for.

For this track, I really wanted to show a different side of Octavia. I wanted to break that infinite classy-cool of hers, if only for a minute (or five), to reveal a character who is more vulnerable and whose feelings are expressed with a little more vehemence. You could consider much of this track an internal monologue of sorts.

MASSIVE Kudos go to Lady Aria who lent her voice in this track and gave a wonderfully powerful performance.

YourEnigma - I'll Come Running (Feat. Lady Aria)

She drew her bow across the strings perhaps a bit more passionately than a rehearsal would require. But then of course, this was no ordinary rehearsal. Indeed, a performance for a royal wedding demanded the utmost preparation, absolute precision, consummate virtuosity and concentration. Her ensemble swelling to a crescendo, she held her breath....as a lone kick drum trounced on the downbeat.

She was not the only one rehearsing for a royal venue this evening...

This one is a bit more explicitly narrative than most of my entries in the series and GASP, vocals! But heck, I had a LOT of fun with it. Hope it makes you move! There are lots of sneaky statements of ye olde TaviScratch theme, so keep your ears open.
Super magnificently huge props to DragonNightTara for reprising her role as Octavia for the vocal work and monologue! She's fantastic!
