Hello everyone, and welcome to DKODA: The Soul'd Out Show (Vol. I - IV)!  This is without a doubt my most ambitious project to date - a 4 part audio experience, where the 4 Volumes of music are split into 4 Acts - like a music themed audio play, presented to a live audience on stage. I wanted to tell a story about unrequited love, heartbreak, loneliness, elation, hope, grief  & despair. Further themes of true love, passion & desire finally intertwine with peace, togetherness & freedom. The protagonist's story is told in audio form using the lyrics and emotions in the samples of the music selected and used. I hope you enjoy the 'event'!

DKODA - Loving You (Is Ecstasy)

The beginning of 2002 saw Gorillaz cultural stock in the UK still on a high with award nominations and notably the appearance at the UK BRIT awards, opening the show. To remind the public that the album was still out there, a single was required. Tomorrow Comes Today, although released previously as the lead track on an EP was chosen as there was a video readily available, and also because the original release had not made much impact so it would be new to most people. The biggest treats for the fans on the package were probably the revised Gorillaz biographies and a new original B-side, 'Film Music' a mischevious title which tied in with the Gorillaz movie Damon and Jamie were talking up to any interviewer who'd listen (and, Gorillaz having conquered the world by this point, these were not few in number). As this is the only original B-Side not compiled on any version of G-Sides, the inclusion of 'Film Music' also makes this release more desirable for collectors.

Tomorrow Comes Today

Rock The House was the third Gorillaz single released from the debut album. Rock The House is known as the only other Del Tha Funkee Homosapien track available on the debut album. The single got a fair amount of radio play but could not be said to achieve true 'single' status in territories outside the UK, where its chart position would at best be described as 'acceptable' for a third / fourth single. MTV however lapped up the video so from this point of view it was a promotional success - the video would later be offered as a purchase incentive bonus on most editions of G-Sides. There were three excellent B-sides across formats which would become firm fan favourites.

Rock The House

911 was recorded during a pre-arranged session with the rap group D-12 who were over for a tour (without Eminem) to promote their album 'Devil's Night' in September 2001. Terry Hall was also invited to the session. The session fell on the day following 9/11 and you can hear this in the lyrical direction the song took. The song was released as an exclusive download on Gorillaz.com and on the D12 website D12World.com, complete with downloadable high-res artwork and a short promotional flash movie (about 30 seconds of the song). The download would eventually be removed from both sites. 911 would eventually see full commercial release (albeit in edited form) almost a year later on the 'Bad Company' soundtrack. The track is credited to 'Gorillaz and D12 featuring Terry Hall'.

Dirty Harry was actually the first Gorillaz release of phase two when it appeared as a limited 12" white label vinyl promo with no band name or record label logo (catalog number 'KONG01'), in January 2005.

Initial copies were released in the UK but by early February plenty had made their way over to the US.

The white label did not bear the name "Gorillaz" or the name of any of their record labels. The track was later selected to be the third single from 'Demon Days' and got a full commercial release in the UK / Europe, and Japan. The extra tracks on the release were this time quite disappointing in that most dedicated fans already had all but two of the tracks across the formats, having obtained them from promos, imports and radio broadcasts, etc.

Stylo is the first single released by the Gorillaz from their 2010 album, Plastic Beach.
