The Bhagavad Gita is a jewel of Hindu spiritual literature. It represents the essence of the Hindu path to union with God and it presents us with a profound vision of the goal of the mystic's journey. It has been read and revered by spiritual teachers ranging from Mahatma Gandhi to Annie Besant.

Song is an appropriate image for the presentation of the Gita on this recording. Ram Dass' readings and verses from the Gita are set against an underlying wave of music which carries from verse to verse and allows for the contemplation of the words and the ultimate meditative space to unfold. The last three tracks segue into various meditative chants that include Ram Dass, Diana Rogers and Shyamdas. Meditations on the Gita is a unique presentation of Ram Dass' resonance with the teachings of the Gita.

Il famoso nono capitolo sulla Sagezza secondo il commentario esteso di Lama Michel Rinpoche sulla Via del Bodhisattva di Shantideva (o Bodhisattvacharyavatara, letteralmente Una Guida allo Stile di Vita del Bodhisattva), uno dei grandi classici del budismo mahayana. 
Lama Michel Rinpoche ci guida con grande abilità verso quest'aspirazione altruistica del Bodhisattva di ottenere l’illuminazione per il beneficio di tutti gli esseri, spiegando come coltivare ognuna delle sei perfezioni che costituiscono il fondamento dello stile di vita del Bodhisattva: la generosità, l’etica, la pazienza, la perseveranza colma di entusiasmo, la meditazione e la saggezza come spiegata nella tradizione Madhyamika, o ’Via di Mezzo’ di Nagarjuna e Chandrakirti. 
Il Bodhisattvacharyavatara è un testo fondamentale per comprendere l'essenza del buddhismo e una guida per trasformare la vita di tutti i giorni in qualcosa di più significativo. Pur essendo stato scritto oltre un migliaio di anni fa, offre un senso di attualità sorprendente.

In this weekend teaching, Lama Michel Rinpoche clearly explains the so-called Six Dharmas of Preparation. Before actually starting a meditation, Lam Rim or the Graduated Path to Enlightenment instructs us on how to prepare ourselves.  These Six Dharmas of Preparation are six preparatory practices that help us purify negativities and obstacles to our spiritual practice, accumulate merit and prepare our minds for meditation.
The six preliminaries are: cleaning the meditation room and setting up our altar, setting up offerings, sitting in the meditation posture, visualizing the merit field and supplicating the lineage masters, the unbroken line of teachers from Buddha Shakyamuni until one's personal masters for their blessings in the form of spiritual attainments.
