Cameo Blush - Art Of Worry

In my DJ sets I love exploring different genres of electronic music which is something you can hear whenever I play out. I wanted to take a step back with this mix and RETURN to my dance roots, where this all started for me..... HOUSE music. This mix is also dedicated to one of my heroes and DC house legends that passed away right before the pandemic Sam “The Man” Burns. Whenever I play house music I think of him. He had a residency at a legendary DC club called “18 St Lounge” every Sunday where he would literally take you on a house journey. Bringing generations together and sweating out the night, Sam had a way of hooking you in and leaving you speechless through his House sets. This mix is an offering to him, a continuation of my gratitude.

🫧 Himaroo (@itshimaroo) - Neon Ink Wash [FEEL011] 🫧

Inspired by the time-honoured East Asian art of Ink Wash, this mix pours vibrant neon watercolours and portrays shades of wild joy within moments of calm. 🫧🕺🏻🫧

It fused the funky cores of modern electronic 🪩 (dance/house/?) with the soft harmony of nature 🌿 (ripples of water/warbles of birds/?), the ethereal soul of traditional instruments 🪕 (bamboo flute/guzheng/?), and the liveliness of classic vocals 🎎 (delicate folk tunes/powerful operas/?).

I wanted to bring to life the spirit of landscapes and the life of people from ancient East Asia. So escape with me for one hour. 🎧 Wash away the weight on our bodies, minds, and souls. Feel our hearts rise and fall with the shift of intensity. And dance like nobody is watching.

The LEGEND Soichi Terada had been reevaluated by Rush Hour Recordings in 2015. “Sounds From The Far East” won the compilation album of the year on Resident Advisor. And this year, he is bringing his live show to North America, and RDC 2016. This mix is a part of his live set.

RDC 014 - SOICHI TERADA

Max Graef is at the centre of his own little musical world that includes being co-foudner of Money $ex Records and part of the Oye Records and Box Aus Holz crews. It’s a world of loose house grooves, jazzy influences and disco flourishes with lo-fi aesthetics that has spawned two essentials albums—on Tartelet and Nine Tune respectively—as well as countless singles. More recently he has delved into techno, though, proving that he is an inquisitive artist who has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He is a wizard on a range of outboard gear as well as having some very real playing chops when it comes to keys, guitars and percussion.

As a DJ his organic style always comes through, which means his mix for us is an impromptu thing that calls on lots of different grooves. Sometimes hurried and minimal, at others spacious and deep, it’s a showcases of all the many influences that Graef distills into his own productions and is a nuanced listen that stands up to home listening. Included along the way are a couple of forthcoming solo tunes, as well as one with long time musical sparring partner Glenn Astro, so have fun picking them out.
