DifferentSound Premiere // Danny Wabbit

ONI is happy to present it's new Y series which is going to mainly focus on the 90's to early 00's Techno era.

The series will be an outlet for label head Danny Wabbit to showcase his productions inspired by the Y generation.

The first track, "Don't F*** With My Energy," is a high-energy anthem that combines driving percussion, distorted Acid lines, and a powerful vocal sample. It embodies the fierce independence and resilience that characterized the early techno era.

The second track, "Gotta Kill Bill," is a nod to the iconic martial arts film and its soundtrack. Its intense bassline, sharp hi-hats, and eerie synth create a tense and suspenseful atmosphere, this track showcases the influence of soundtrack music on early techno.

The final track, "Pacer," is a homage to the futuristic sounds of the early 90s. Its hypnotic synth, swirling pads, and pounding beat create a pulsating energy that transports listeners to another dimension. This track shows how early techno was deeply influenced by futurism.

Mutual Rytm welcomes back Swiss DJ/producer Chlär for a bustling, high-octane return as he unveils his latest six-track EP, ‘Intrinsic Drive’.

Swiss artist and mastering engineer Chlär’s last outing on Mutual Rytm, his ‘Optimized Grooves’ EP, was a stand- out success that made an impact far and wide across the techno realm. It was another big step for the fast-rising producer, who is also a dexterous DJ that plays across three and even four decks in the club. A craftsman of sounds, his take on techno is full throttle and has come on labels like Iceland’s NIX and Stranger’s Self Reflektion imprint. Always looking to improve his sounds, he hits a perfect sweet spot with a fresh and visionary approach across six fresh productions with his ‘Intrinsic Drive’ EP, again showcasing exemplary creative progression in his ever-impressing production skills.

Up first is ‘Dopamine Rush’, a quickened techno pumper with synths peeling off the straight-ahead drums and locking you into a state of hypnosis. The title track ‘Intrinsic Drive’ is a tightly woven mix of drums, hits and bass that never lets up, while the supple rhythm is overlaid with alien sound designs to up the intensity. ‘For Marco’ takes a heavier path with darkened and more weighty kick drums under eerie synth loops. There is a real swing in the drums of ‘Steady Pace’ as the crisp hits and vocal fragments all up the ante, before ‘Greedy Man’ delivers a tough panel beater with skewed synths and an industrial undertone. Digital bonus ‘May I Dance?’ rounds things out with raw textures and unhinged loops that take you to the heart of a strobe-lit dance floor, shaping up another mighty fine statement of intent from the ever more vital Swiss native.

Tehotu joins for DifferentSound Podcast #247.

Even before being a DJ, a producer, a radio owner or an artistic director ... Tehotu is what we can call a cultural activist of techno music.

Multi-function, Tehotu is a Swiss knife of the techno for more than 10 years now.

Recognized for the particularity of his sets where the richness of a culture cooperates with years of commitment, passion but especially sharing, which finally, form a clever mixture of knowledge and mastery that allows the magic to operate. He has conquered the hearts of legendary clubs such as the Tresor in Berlin, Gare Porto in Portugal or the Rex Club in Paris.

On top of that, Tehotu is also a producer, more discreet, but just as talented. His last ep "From Now On" EP on Volster's label Secession, has been supported by the biggest as DVS1, Rodhad, UVB, Temudo, Amotik, SLAM, Matrixmann, Setaoc Mass to name a few .. His music is mostly played and unfluenced by the mythic club Berghain. Moreover one of the track of the EP called "Hold the Line" has been elected one of the best techno track of 2022 by Beatport. This led him to sign his music this year on labels like Methodical, Sinxergy and some other label are announced for 2023 as Hayes ,New Rythmic and more ..

Tehotu has also imposed a well-defined vision of what techno meant to him through his label Sinxergy where he was able to sign a number of iconic figures of the techno scene. He also has the support of biggest as Freddy K who did not fail to support each release of the label at the
Berghain and all around the world. Tehotu also wanted to push the boundaries of music, human interactions and visual arts with the
showcase of the label that he organized at the Anomalie club art first and then every 2 months at the Suicide club in Berlin for 2 years now.

We can say that Tehotu is definitely committed to promote electronic music by all means and this since his debut in 2014. At only19 years old, he opened his first club in France where he already imposed his interpretation of techno music by creating "La Derive", a mythical artistic space in the south west of France where major figures from Berlin and elsewhere came to perform.

Never ceasing to put forward the independence of the artists, he created in 2021 one of the main streaming radio of Berlin, Pattern.
It is with Pattern that once again Tehotu proposed a selection of artists and collectives from all over the world to perform live every weekend in this famous basement.

According to Tehotu, Techno music is much more than that .. Can be one of the fundamental values that he doesn’t cease to show us.
