SPeeKa presents: Jef – Hook, Line & Sotra EP (2018). A 5-track EP I did with the man I consider to be Soweto’s very own Nate Dogg. 

I first met Jef around 2011 while working on the DangerBox Mixtape with Axe-Ray, MaseVen & Sbuda P. Since then, he has appeared on joints I produced for other artists (such as Sbuda P’s “Izinja“, from his 2012 mixtape “Street Lights”) and he even had an uncredited appearance in my 2011 collaborative tape with Etcetera, “Shooting Stars”. 

This project is long overdue, quite honestly.  In the past few years, he has been one of the first artists I think of whenever I’m working on new music. I seemed to always hear him on the hook, so I figured why not just do a project with him since working together is somewhat of a breeze. 

As per all my projects, I did all the production, recording and mixing on the EP. 

The EP also boasts dope features by Soweto’s greatest talents, including; Chaka Dolla, Noks Matchbox, MaseVen, Infektist, Bleq Majic, Theo Songstress, Soweto Tshepiso, Chris Óf Peace, Chippa M and One Way.

The first single titled “Ezase Kas’Lam” (ft. Chaka Dolla, Noks Matchbox and MaseVen) dropped on Monday, 1 October 2018. The single was accompanied by the first episode of a 4 part behind the scenes look documentary that we shot while recording the EP, with the remaining 3 episodes dropped on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October respectively on my Facebook page - with the documentary being uploaded in it's entirety on the 5th on YouTube.
