Every time I play in a club or a party, I challenge myself to experiment with different electronic music styles. To keep it interesting and fun for the dancefloor and me, I like to think of my sets as musical journeys and so I never set my playlists in advance. Every DJ has their style. For me, I always go with the flow and select tracks based on the dancefloor's vibe or wherever I wish to take the party. While this is the adrenaline rush I chase (and love), the pressure of what to play next, in the time pressure also sometimes leads to unsuitable track selections and mixing errors - and this is what you might hear in this mix. I was not optimistic about putting this set on Soundcloud; however, I chose against it and embrace the mistakes as "lessons". Here I am presenting you a DJ set in all its natural form, with what some may call 'odd track selections' and some 'mixing errors'; I hope you can overlook them and enjoy this mix nonetheless. ▌I Was trinkst du beim Auflegen im Club?
Das Trendgetränk des Jahres 2022 ist Cuba Libre. Da bin ich natürlich voll dabei. Abgesehen davon: wenn ich privat mixe gibts Caipi aus der Dose und Durstlöscher Eistee Pfirsich und im Club trinke ich Discowasser.


▌II Verwendest du neue Technologie oder bist du eher klassisch unterwegs?
Ich bin ein Nerd! natürlich probiere ich jede spannende neue Technik. Eine AI die alte Soul Tracks in Gesang, Drums, Gitarre und Bass aufteilen kann? So gut war Sampling noch nie! Trotzdem lege ich gern traditionell auf, das macht einfach mir am meisten Spaß. 


▌III Wie würdest du deinen Stil selbst beschreiben?
Musik zum Tanzen - ich spiele House im weiteren Sinne - bestimmt würden es andere auch Techno oder Downtempo nennen. Allgemein möchte ich aber lieber frei von Genregrenzen spielen. Ich werde das Gefühl nicht los, dass es diese nur aus Vermarktungszwecken gibt. Apropos: Checkt unser Label SCHROTT Rec.!

A mix of melodic tracks, pretty emotional, selected to represent the various feelings most humans experience - the colors of life. The set starts with some very soft tracks, and transforms into more darker, powerful tracks, especially from the second half of the set. All of the tracks should be good for dancing - but some of them may make you cry a bit :)

Colors of life

LAB is an independent organisation consisting of three DJs, Scott Dickson, Uone & James Cooper. Launching in Melbourne in 2005 LAB has since been working relentlessly to expose many pivotal artists in the world of House and Techno. As many of these artists have performed as debut Australian tours, LAB has undoubtedly been a key contributor to educating the Australian market on high quality, non-commercial dance music. Constantly moving location, LAB has produced events in clubs, bars, warehouses, rooftops, parks, and festivals such as Burning Man and Rainbow Serpent. 2011 also saw the launch of LAB in Berlin. And wherever LAB goes, the faithful LAB crowd follows - one of the most important qualities of the parties, as the attitude of their following and the atmosphere they create, is what makes a 'LAB party'.

On top of it's regular events, every summer, LAB has also been holding a free open-air day party at 'Section 8', Melbourne's notorious container bar. Since their launch, these exclusive events have been in high demand and quickly become known as one of the best days in Melbourne. The LAB DJs also perform in affiliation with the Coco Poco Loco crew.
