Exclusive Echonomist ft. Iokasti 'Modern Wonder'

As Hamburg based label TAU rings in the new decade, it's Echonomist who delivers the soundtrack for the label's first release of 2020. Altogether three original tracks plus a remix from Ditian can be found on the artist's homage to New Wave, simply called 'Modern Wonder'. After a successful 2019 Petros, Echnomist's real name, and releases on Innervisions, Blue Shadow or Watergate continues his run and demand of contributing meaningful and valuable music to the scene and its floors. Speaking of the latter, Echonomist, who enjoys his international artist career, supports local and aspiring musicians with his Sunday event 'Dreams', which seems to be a solid base to play yourself into the spotlight of the Greek scene. However, Petros talks the 411 on his upcoming release as well as giving us some insights into his 'coming' as an artist and how'll be the next big thing from Greece.

EXCLUSIVE: Echonomist ft. Iokasti - Modern Wonder [TAU]

'We welcome a new member to the DUAT FOLKLORE family. Argia is a female producer and DJ from Madrid. Her sound combines timeless melodies and beats with a touch of mystic, what fits prefectly to our label catalog and vision of sound. All tracks were mixed by Ruede Hagelstein at our DUAT studios in Berlin.

DUAT (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient Egyptian mythology. The deity Osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the Osiris Myth. The underworld was also the residence of various other gods along with Osiris. The DUAT was the region through which the sun god Re traveled from west to east each night, and it was where he battled Apep, who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. It was also the place where people's souls went after death for judgment, though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. Burial chambers formed touching-points between the mundane world and the DUAT, and the akh, the effectiveness of the dead, could use tombs to travel back and forth from the DUAT.'

Exclusive Ivory & Auggië  'Basic Rhythm'

Milan creatives and VOLT-residents Daniel Tagliaferri and Simone Gianoncelli rather known under their artist monikers Ivory and Auggië teamed up for MoBlack Records' next strike of the year and deliver the single 'Basic Rhythm'. Having released on labels such as Borders of Light or Buttress Auggië's definitely one of the artist to look out for in 2020 while Ivory can call labels such as microCastle, Frau Blau, Isolate or Kompakt his home and is already a step ahead of his musical companion for this release. However, the artist duo produced a dance floor-oriented take that unites Auggië's preference for metal and industrial-sounding elements as well as Ivory's driving and lush bass line in combination with a catchy lead-synth that undergoes a glitch-treatment from time to time to break open the aforecreated musical harmony and evoke a new momentum in the artists' production. 'Basic Rhythm' focuses, as the title suggests, on few elements, which solidly put together come up with an inevitable groove that sweeps tornado-like across the floor.

Ivory & Auggië's single 'Basic Rhythm' will be released on MoBlack Records on January 31st, 2020.

Montreal's @JacquesGreene is releasing a deluxe edition of his 2019 'Dawn Chorus' LP via @LuckyMe this month.

'Dawn Chorus', Greene's long-awaited second album, was a well-worth-the-wait exploration into the weird and wonderful emotions and experiences that only occur in those afterglow hours post-rave and pre sleeping in your own bed inevitably at some ridiculous time in the afternoon. Or is that just us?

Anyway, it was a wonderful release in its original form (and well received, too) with Greene confident in his new space and sound, a sound removed – but not completely cut off from – the early Night Slugs era, post dubstep material he released around the start of the 10s. 

But now, with musical pals such as Ciel, Nathan Micay, Lunice, Martyn Bootyspoon and UK producer Fort Romeau drenching Greene's tracks in their own colourful hues, 'Dawn Chorus' grows and shape-shifts both Greene and his songs once more. 

On the menu there's "club primetime house and techno, afterparty warehouse versions, IDM, shoegaze and fully deconstructed ambient" so there's plenty to tuck into, with @FortRomeau's remix of 'Night Service' among the highlights.

The air was sweet, filled with the sound of music and laughter, the smells of various delicacies that lined the windows. They strolled along the cobbled streets hopping from place to place, becoming more intoxicated as the night took hold and the lamps glowed warm orange. There was still much for them to explore, but they had all the time in the world for that... 

The next release on Optimo Music's Digital Danceforce offshoot comes from Innervisions regular Marcus Worgull. Named after the northern Spanish snack, the EP features three intricately crafted productions that boast bright synths and hypnotic vocal samples. 

Marcus penned some words about the EP: "A Pintxo is a small snack, similar to tapas, typically eaten in bars, traditional in northern Spain - the basque country. It is a piece of bread topped with all kind of things. Typically a group of friends will go from one tavern to another, drinking wine or beer and eating pintxos. I named the EP Pintxos, as its the same approach: “small", carefully produced pieces, that are there to enjoy."
