Spektre are back on home turf once again, with a sinister two-tracker.

'Carnival Of Souls' sets the scene with the relentless bang of their trademark heavy kick drum. Opening with a dark and eerie atmosphere that appropriately matches the title, the lead synths develop into uplifting euphoria, as the tracks mood transforms in the breakdown.

Second of the two original tracks 'Land Of Strays' has a building tension with fluttering synths. The powerful vocal also lifts the track and provides great contrast with the growling tones of the ominous bassline. Undeniably a peak time cut of dancefloor focused techno, this is a spark to light anyone's fire.

Track three is SAMA's remix of 'Carnival Of Souls' which is a refined version of the original with the addition of his own grinding bass stabs and thinned kick drum to allow more focus on the synth parts. Keeping all of the originals energy, it has all of the same charm but with added depth for those who like things a touch deeper.

Finishing the EP is D-Unity's remix of 'Land Of Strays' and stripping away many of the originals synths it's a percussion lead alternate version. Using the vocal and only short bursts of synths, this darker version has more ferocity to it, and will no doubt be a favourite with those who play a harder style of techno.

‘Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic.
Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992.

Enrico Sangiuliano delivers a trademark cosmic rework underlined by tribal bass stabs and twisted synth lines to accompany the famous riff. It’s an outstanding remake that’s already a big summer favourite for the Drumcode crew.

Multifaceted artist Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return with their next release as SRVD, entitled ‘Black On Black’. Since teaming up two years ago, Matt Edwards (Radio Slave) and Patrick Mason have continued to blur the lines between pounding techno and live avant-garde performance under their SRVD alias. Following performances in Barcelona, Melbourne, Berlin London and Tokyo, and with support from the likes of Sven Väth, Rodhad, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier and many more. The formidable duo now return to their home imprint, Rekids, with two tracks both recorded in Bordeaux in 2019, using only analogue gear, before being arranged and mixed in Berlin. 

‘Black On Black’ opens with thundering percussion, rising synths, rattling cymbals and alluring vocals from Patrick which elevates the energy and leads you into delightful darkness. UMEK’s label 1605 presents an EP from French duo Cosmic Boys, who recently featured on the imprint working in collaboration with UMEK himself, but this time they are back with two solo tracks.

Cosmic Boys previous works have been released via tracks and remixes on labels such as Popof’s FORM, Oscar Aguilera’s HE-ART and Richie Hawtin’s Minus.

Quickly rising through the ranks of the world’s techno elite, Cosmic Boys have achieved many top 10 selling tracks on Beatport, and currently their collaboration with UMEK is charted at No.2 in the techno section of the website.

The duo consists of Sebastien Bevil plus Gaby Meynadier, and they have also proven popular DJ’s with several festival bookings across Europe.

“Paranormal” opens the release with a hammering kick drum and tense pads that lay a foundation for the arpeggiating lead synth and sci-fi effects. Swelling with tension, its high-paced energy gives the track a frantic momentum that’s perfect for peak time plays.

Second of the cuts, “We Are The Futrur” is deeper and more stripped back with a building euphoria that engulfs the track. Underpinned by the relentless pounding of the tough percussion and sinister tones of the ominous vocal, this cut is a twisted blend of dark and light textures.

1. Tempo _ Alias

Respekt 181 sees Serbian superstar D.R.N.D.Y return to the label with the unique and attention-grabbing 'Ultron'.
The track lays the foundation with a rough, chugging low end section, then peppers the arrangement with a diverse mix of elements that make this track a real one-off. Retro chord stabs bounce off synthetic sirens and spoken vocals, all punctuated by machine-gun claps.

This one has a been a big tune in Spektre's sets for a while now, so we're excited to finally share it!

D.R.N.D.Y - Ultron

Markantonio’s label AnalyticTrail drops a hard-hitting three track techno EP from young Italian producer Hanubis whose style blends thundering percussion with timeless synth sounds.

Prior to this EP, Hanubis had released tracks on labels including Spartaque’s IAMT, Sam Paganini’s JAM and Coyu’s Suara, leading to support from DJ’s such as Charlotte De Witte, Enrico Sangiuliano, Cari Lekebusch, Wehbba, Spektre and Skober.

Hanubis is also a resident DJ at LebenSound UM in the Italian city of Foggia where he regularly plays alongside DJ royalty from around the globe.

“Dish” opens the release with an industrial kick drum fused with stabbing pads and explosive vocal phrases. Track two “Armageddon” blends the twisted euphoria of hypnotic synths with heavy percussion, before the dark and punishing “The Modeline” closes out this peak time techno EP.

Hanubis - Dish

Tabulat discloses its highly anticipated sixth release delivered by Lukas Firtzer. This Belgian-based prodigy recently gained global traction with a feature on Amelie Lens’ Fabric Compilation. Needless to say Tabulat is thrilled to present Firtzer’s four-track ‘Vitalize EP’, containing two hard-hitting originals as well as two stellar remixes by Tabulat mainstays Klaps and Jeroen Meertens.

The EP kicks off with the title track: ‘Vitalize’. This offering withholds eerie and industrial buildups that build rigorous forms of suspense towards mind-bending climaxes. All these combined elements give this weapon a bona fide prime-time status.

Within ‘Rush Of Essence’, Lukas Firtzer showcases his unconditional love for the genuine 303 sound. Solid bass work paves the way for oscillating acid arpeggiators. Intensity and fury are the key elements that mercilessly unfold within the stomping climax.

After recent outlets on leading labels like Kraftek and Tronic, Klaps has put himself in the limelight of the contemporary scene. With impactful bass, raw percussion and sturdy drops, Klaps’ signature sound clearly comes through within his remix of the title track ‘Vitalize’.

Label head Jeroen Meertens went for an up-paced, psy-flecked reinterpretation of ‘Rush Of Essence’. Oscillating synths interact seamlessly with fast and rigid drum patterns throughout this take. Needless to say, this remix gives an extra dimension to an already outstanding EP.
