A year ago, my brother took his own life. The pain that has been felt by everyone who has been touched by Erik has been indescribable. It's hard to believe that it has already been a year, as it often feels as though we lost him just yesterday. The struggle to come to terms with his death has been nothing short of what feels like impossible, and the sorrow that accompanies such an unexpected death has undoubtedly been felt by an innumerable amount of people in this world.

I have since let go of asking "Why?" because we will never know. All that we do know is that he is gone, and there is nothing that can change that, no matter how badly we want things to be different.

This video is dedicated not only to Erik, but to every single soul in this world. To anyone who has lost a loved one. To anyone who has felt lost, fragile, broken, and beyond repair. To everyone who has ever shed a tear or felt unimportant, unloved, unseen. I have learned over the years that no matter how small or trivial someone else's problem may seem to you, it might be their world turning completely upside down. And we have no place and no right to judge anyone who is struggling, no matter what we ourselves have been through. No sorrow is greater than another, because sorrow is beyond anything anyone in this world should feel.

There have been so many tragedies that we have had to face as people, as individuals, as a collective whole, but somehow we move on. And somehow, the world moves on. And the ability of the human soul to overcome tragedy itself is a beautiful thing. It may take some time, and you may never feel or see things the same way again, but the journey to overcoming is not unreachable. We aren't impervious to pain, weakness, fear, or anger, and at one point in our lives, we will not be okay. And it's quite all right to not be okay.

This video is a reminder that you are never alone in anything that you face, or what you feel, because someone out there has experienced your struggle before. And you are never alone, because someone out there cares about you, whether you know them or not, and whether they know you or not.

This video is a reminder that there will always be another way. Another choice. We can't stop others from feeling what they feel, or even doing what they want to do. All we can do is let them know that we are there for them and that they will be able to find the strength to move on. You don't have to face it alone. You don't have to be afraid.
