This recording was made by the SuperCam instrument on NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover on Feb. 19, 2021, just about 18 hours after landing on the mission’s first sol or Martian day. The rover’s mast, holding the microphone, was still stowed on Perseverance’s deck, and so the sound is muffled, a little like the sound one hears listening to a seashell or having a hand cupped over the ear. Just a little wind can be heard.

On the heels of the recent reissue of the Point 2 LP, James Ruskin follows up for Tresor Records with a bold new EP entitled Siklikal.

Right from the outset, Nepte draws in by vast sonics and laser focus, unruly synths distort over a skipping beat that hits hard in the right places. As the beat takes a backstep but no less rhythmic, Kn Te3 is one for adventurous DJs, recalling the minimal loops that Ruskin is known for, seeped in industrial melancholy that fizzes a granular decay.

On the b-side, Nocke brings the beat back to the forefront with a muscular UK techno sound, highly effective and pounding. Closing the EP is Kn AM3 which retains the industrial sinew of its near-namesake Kn Te3, exposing raw synth excursions over brutalist machinations. This EP symbolises Ruskin's dynamic approach, pushing at boundaries yet never without a strong grip over the dancefloor.

Климат на территории Баренцева моря суров и изменчив. С Атлантики сюда приходит тепло, а с Северного Ледовитого океана — холод. Здесь часто бывают сильные ветра и штормы.

Легкий шторм в Баренцевом море

Мы учитываем ледовые условия Арктики при строительстве наших сооружений. С декабря по апрель здесь преобладают тонкие льды. А в марте появляются толщиной до 2 метров.

Льды ломаются

На территории Баренцева моря часто дуют мощные ветра. Зимой, особенно в ноябре-декабре, скорость ветра вдоль побережья может достигать 35-40 м/с, а в порывах даже больше.

Арктический ветер поет

Чтобы убедиться, что вода Печорского моря не меняет своего гидрохимического состава, мы регулярно берем пробы. На данный момент, концентрации всех контролируемых веществ в норме.

This set of sounds from the surface of Mars were recorded by the microphone on the side of NASA’s Perseverance Rover on February 20, 2021. In the first set, sounds from the rover itself dominate. In the second set, the sound was filtered to make sounds from Mars more audible. You can hear a little wind in the second set. 
 
This is the first time a Mars rover has been equipped with a microphone. The images in this video were taken by Perseverance's Navigation Cameras, or Navcams, on the same day as the microphone sounds, Feb. 20, 2021.
