Vital new supergroup Corroded Spiral - comprised of Sepultura co-founder Iggor Cavalera, Venezuelan electronic producer Cardopusher, and Dwid Hellion, founder of early hardcore trailblazers Integrity - announce punishing debut EP Ancient Nocturnal Summoning.

Corroded Spiral’s debut release crosses the boundaries of black metal, hardcore, new wave, industrial and EBM, a sum of decades of experience and powerful musicality from bona fide giants of their respective fields. Its three members contribute not just stylistic influence but three unique voices and a boundless ocean of abilities. “Corroded Spiral is a collaborative creation of different ideas, pushing the limits of our outputs, puzzled together during this doomed time of isolation,” explains Iggor Cavalera. “An aural assault.”

Ancient Nocturnal Summoning captures the intensity, horror and supernatural dread of its title. Its darkness is more creative and more demanding than distorted riffs or blastbeats; but instead is raw, spiritual, apocalyptic, and occasionally illuminated with sparks of melody that shimmer within a suffocating blackness. A seething tension that excavates deep, dark fissures of the soul. Opening track “Ancient Nocturnal Summoning” haunts such recesses, its ghostly vocal lines drowning beneath howling sirens of broken synthesis and a relentless industrial beat. “Through The Eyes Of Madness” invokes insanity with billowing ashclouds of noise and static, a crushing, doomladen descent into terror destined to annihilate speaker systems. Next, “Resulting Fragments Splinter Existence” runs like a destroyed new wave piece, a departure from the sonic obliteration of the previous track but an intense experience in a very different way. Hellish growls underline mutated synth arps, over a beat that could be danceable if it were not so claustrophobic. Closer “Forgotten Ether” evolves from air raid wails and inhuman screaming to tribal percussion and piercing squeals, its merciless pressure always threatening to detonate deep within the brain.

Venezuela’s Cardopusher (producer and DJ Luis Garban) is a collaborator of Arca, Boys Noize and Rosalía among others. His pursuit of uncompromising production and pounding rhythms stems from a background in rave culture and an early immersion in Caracas’ underground electronic scene. Brazilian musician Iggor Cavalera co-founded the iconic and seminal force of thrash and death metal Sepultura with his brother Max in Belo Horizonte in the early 80’s. Having left Sepultura, Cavalera has continued his musical journey with Cavalera Conspiracy, Mixhell, Petbrick, MUDO and Soulwax. Belgium-based US musician Dwid Hellion is known for his work with peerless early hardcore punk / metal sonic explorers Integrity, paving a path for generations of bands to follow in entwining their battery with elements of noise, industrial and experimental music. Dwid also produces “apocalyptic harsh noise” under his Psywarfare solo alias.

Four years since the release of the Groove, for which responsible were exclusively female producers, the outlines label is presentingthe last cassette finishingthe series and concluding this publishing chapter. The first two cassettes featured an Argentinian sound artist, Aylu, („groove 4”) and a German vocalist producer and activist, AGF, („groove 5”). „groove 6” belongs to one of the most important characters of Chicago Footwork, Jana Rush. This young producer and DJ proved to be an extremely active artist DJ-ing her first sets alongside DJ Rashad, Gant-Man and Nehpets only to co-release, at the age of thirteen, a vinyl with DJ Deeon (Dance Mania label). Two years later she releases another twelve-inch, this time for Contaminated Muzik. For Jana Rush’ next official release we had to wait until 2016.

„groove 6” is being released a few months after the artist's excellent album „Painful Enlightenment” (Planet Mu), which is anaudio documentation of a difficult and dark time in Jana's life. Since„groove 6” was created around the same time, it can be treated as the bright reverse side of the heavy and dense atmosphere of Jane Rush's album.

The A-side tracks of the outlines release are filled with intense and overwhelming physicality. They almost seem like an affirmation of corporeality as opposed to the disturbing and uncomfortable momentsfrom „Painful Enlightenment” („G-Spot”or „Suicidal Ideation”). „Fingering Ur Girl”, „Furious Feet” or „Eros” present the body, movement and physicality in a network of associations referring to the energy of libido, dance or music production. Their sonic intensity also points to the source of Jana Rush's music – footwork battles and competing dancers' moves. This is perfectly complemented by the raw and minimalist track „Off Him” recorded by Jana Rush together with DJ Rashad. The B-side, on the other hand, comprises tracks exploring various forms of rhythmic abstraction. „MY RZ-1” bears resemblance tothe music of the Raster-Noton label. „WTF Iz Goin'On ”and „90's Acid” bounce into the listener's ears with a simple sound theme embedded in a rushing beat. The finale, „Simple", turns out to be a perverse play on the footwork convention with theuse of 105BPM tempo.

The „groove 6” cassette is a testimony to the extraordinary creativity of the Chicago producer. Her work stems from the musical roots of the Windy City such as ghetto house and footwork, but her music goes much further ahead – being in constant motion and transformation, it eludes any precise definition. This striking version of Jana Rush's footwork seems to exceed its stylistic limitations, thus, reaching previously unknown lands.

The collective and its community are committed to finding parallels of club and society and their intersections. The work of the collective is not limited to the frames of the dance floor, but exceeds it and attempts to apply its basic beliefs to the wider society.
