“it’s a live recording from my set at nowadays last september. i played from 3h30 until 6am, right before the great aaron j and donato dozzy. it was my first time playing in new york, even though i’ve been going there regularly over the past ten years to visit my older sister. it really felt like a full-circle moment for me — nyc is where i was first introduced to club culture, so finally playing there was incredibly meaningful. i was also in town on holiday with my family, visiting my sister, and ended up playing on the night of my mum’s birthday, which made it even more special. i had such a good time!! nowadays is an amazing club with incredible energy, sound system, the crowd and overall vibe were just in tune.”

the second week of 2026 is in full swing and what a year these past two weeks have been already. we’re thrilled to be welcoming paris-based dj and producer bambi to the untitled 909 podcast series with a brilliant live recording from her nowadays (and nyc) debut late last year. playing alongside the greats like aaron j, donato dozzy, antenes, connor wong and shinedoe for the club’s weekly non-stop series, bambi’s early morning set is a pulsing fever dream, glistening through hypnotic techno, ethereal melodies, and hazy dub-influenced moments - it’s a showcase of a dj at her very best. 

growing up fully immersed in music from learning the violent to becoming a hip-hop dancer, where bambi’s relationship with electronic music first began, it was new york where she first experienced rave culture, attending parties with her older sister. from then on, she ventured into the forest parties that her friends were organising around the outskirts of paris and became intertwined with the scene, captured by the freedom that these parties allow you to experience. now as a dj, bambi encapsulates that feeling within her sets, drawing from the psychedelic realms of techno, trance and low-end frequencies. holding residencies at macadam, badaboum, rinse france and berlin’s hypersoft, bambi has become a staple in the local french scene and beyond with a touring schedule that has taken her across europe, the us and now australia and asia - the tour she is currently on, having recently played at iconic australian doofs such as diega and un:send.

The 18th Virtual Utopia update has been synthesized by London-based, sonic-scientist Wednesday ( @wednesday_dj ) a close affiliate of the corporation and key luminary of London’s swirliest psychedelic gathering; Sub:System. This update is a live audible offering from one of those parties back in December 2024, a forever-preserved relic of time. Hannah is known mainly for her distinctive mystical, darker, psy-infused output- but this time entwined with a utopic positivity which seamlessly bridges the gap between her phonaesthetic and the euphonious sounds of DS.

Pulsating waves of blissed-out pads morph like weightless liquid throughout this vast sonic landscape. Earthy, low-slung organic groovers decorated with a softer, gentle glow of radiating hope and triumph. Carefully selected, medium-paced tensioners to harvest a brooding energy for the dance floor, coated in a glistening optimism. A perfectly timed 2-hour mix maintaining the energy right where it needed to be, a steady velocity for inner-stabilisation before the wormhole really opens.

- Hey Talia, how’s it going? What’s been happening lately?
Lately, I've been reminded that life isn't always about going so fast. I started this year in a beach house up the coast with the girlies, waking up with the sun and swimming at least 10x a day. An indulgence I haven't had for a long time. The past 12 months has been such a wild ride but when everything is stripped back to these beautiful, calm moments, it's such a rare opportunity to reflect and recentre. So amongst the madness of Aussie summer, I've had a chance to ground and appreciate the small things ahead of all the big things to come! 

- Tell us a bit about this mix - what was your idea or direction behind it?
I am so honoured to be a part of the Patterns mix series, a truly inspirational series for me. I knew the story I wanted to tell straight away. Steve, you and I met around 3 years ago when you were a guest on my radio show. We connected over this deep, psychedelic sound that was emerging out of so-called Australia, something we felt was deeply connected to our nature, the wiggy and wonderful bushland. Music here isn't made for the club, it's made for wide open spaces, inspired by the symphonies of insects and birds. So if you close your eyes, I hope you find yourself there! 

- ⁠Are there any tracks or moments in the set that are special or defining for you?
There's a blend I pinched from my Tanglewood Festival set on NYD this year, Monkeypaw (dub) by @ngama and Samahan by @agimat_iha, really drummy goodness. I love watching people really move their bodies to drum heavy grooves and feel every part of the music, so that one stands out as a particularly special memory. There's also a forthcoming track, Subliminal by @in-the-interimm on my label @oomycota_label close to the end. A deep, paddy, trancy number, very eyes closed on the dance floor moment which I can't wait to be out in the world.

A special edition of the space•cast from an underground hero in London, Benk0. Booker and resident of one of London’s most vital and beloved clubs, MOT UNIT 18 / 20. 

These clubs are the lifeblood of this thing we all love and it’s thanks to grafters like Trey (Benk0) that they continue to exist, burning the midnight oil weekend-in-weekend-out on a industrial estate near the Millwall football ground. 

The balance of programming smaller clubs in London is an impossibly fine one, staying true to your values and booking exciting artists whilst providing a platform for the plethora of amazing up and coming DJs in London. Playing at MOT is almost a rite of passage at this point and it’s Benk0 who fearlessly navigates the ship through some of the choppiest waters in clubland. 

So when the opportunity came to host a mix on the series from the man himself came, recorded at the club where he’s spent more nights than he’d care to remember over the last half decade, it was an easy yes. This set was an opening for XDB and you can tell from the classy selections, perfect pacing and smooth mixing that it was performed by someone with a detailed knowledge of the room who has respect and care of the best residents.
