With an afterglow, we look back on the three memorable days of FIBER 2021. Over the coming weeks we will share some of the recordings of sets and performances to relive the 2021 edition. 

First in line is Woody92, with the recording of the Friday closing set which was accompanied by live visuals from Deborah Mora. Enter a zone where mind, body, nature and cosmic rhythms transmute into a multilayered reality. This versatile artist works like an alchemist in his sets, mixing mystical ambient with mind-altering electronics, psy-influences and tripping techno. What emerges from the vapours are sets that have the quality of abstract sound works and transcendental sets. This set was presented in collaboration with our partner The Rest Is Noise.

Foreboding atmospheres. For this episode I like to welcome Harald Uunk.

Harald show for Neon Cleptu is a sensory journey that's as physical as it is representational. He's trying to force out his deepest thoughts about today's life where he tries to balance the good and the bad. Dutch, The Hague based producer has worked as a music engineer and developed his own particular way of dealing with textural structures, glimmering confusions and unpredictable sounds.

I'm very pleased that he participated and will be the one to guide us through his musical fascinations.

Next up in our mix-series is the Rotterdam-based visual artist and DJ, Nelly. A unique audiovisual storyteller, who played a perfect psychedelic evolving warmup set at our Amsterdam showcase at Doka together with Minimal Collective - together with recent appereances on Mala Junta X Spielraum, Dekmantel and a residency at Garage Noord in Amsterdam. 

She blesses us with a trippy mix, constisting of psychedelic soundscapes and tranceindusing wormholes. A true journey, starting of at rhythmical-, idm-esque beats flowing into deep psy techno and trance.

Our final mix of the year welcomes Ute.Rec co-founder Marius Bø, whom I had the distinct pleasure of meeting in the Norwegian mountains this summer. Comprised entirely of unreleased material from the collective, Marius' composition is slow-burning alchemy, pure oneiric fire, unforgettable from first spark. "Space does not exist," instructs Louise Bourgeois, "it is just a metaphor for the structure of our existence." Listening, we dissolve, recalling the somatic wisdom of those who would sculpt the physical to capture the invisible.

Future Patterns x Refuge Worldwide - Brent Jacko

As a producer, @loekfrey is amongst the most exciting voices to have emerged from the influential Dutch scene in recent times. Balancing intricate experimental with abstract elements of IDM and techno, Loek’s sound is both compelling and forward-thinking.

His recent LP release on @woodyninetytwo’s @omenwapta is the perfect embodiment of this sound, slipping gracefully between hallucinatory sound design and irresistibly propellant rhythms. With other releases slated for release this year, Loek finds himself in an ascendant moment.

Consisting of unreleased solo and collaborative works, Loek Frey’s Patterns of Perception 108 feels like a glimpse into the future. Winding combinations of reflective and vibrant energies counter and build, illuminating an engrossing yet unpredictable flow. Clusters of intuitively sequenced beats writhe beneath constellations of alien-like glitches. Unsettling textures diffused by shimmering crystalline sophistication.

Next up in our mix series is A Strange Wedding, a magnificent DJ and producer, with a true signature sound, full of psy-influenced soundscapes, deep basslines and mind-drilling synths. He is part of both Worst Records, and Saint Etienne’s amazing Positive Education.

This 3-hour rhytmical wandering, spans slow-burning and psychedelic atmospheres to fast-paced shamanistic sounds, and moves confidently through moods creating utterly psychotropic states. This is a true journey for the heads - tune in, drop out.

Ute Mix Series #68 | A Strange Wedding

Woody92 (@woodyninetytwo) is a true experimentalist who operates at the fringes of the electronic scene. The Dutchman draws on his interest in graphic design to come at sound from a different perspective. His psychoactive mix of leftfield, techno and minimalism is rare and deep. He has built an international but close-knit circle of creative friends and collaborators who all work on fresh future music for his Omen Wapta label which he calls "a transitory playground for the imagination."

In this week's sublime and subliminal mix, you'll hear plenty of upcoming Omen Wapta releases and collaborations Woody92 has worked on with different artists. He says he has researched other parts of his musical self in this mix and tried to translate uptempo rhythms "that reflect a continuous movement into temporal realms - ancient fundamentals smudged and sculpted into a deconstructed landscape full of ancestral constructions.” It's a truly mind-expanding listen that opens up all new pathways.
