Oslo trance outfit Accelerationism is the brainchild of Marius Bø & Teo Bachs, whose trippy, high-energy sounds were born back in 2017 as a series of open-air woodland raves. The Norwegian duo are co-founders of the Ute Collective, an umbrella sobriquet spearheading their current charge alongside other artists with forest gathering division Uteklubb and imprint Ute.Rec (and sublabels Sinensis and Translusid for a deeper dive into ambient-, hardtrance as well as Goa). The pair are even known to distribute their music as mix CDs from time to time, an appropriately authentic and tangible format for a 90s sound having such a profound resurgence in a world dominated by digital media. There’s clearly a lot on their plate, and that’s maybe not so surprising: the same passion the duo pours into their many projects is manifested by a diligent and lightning-fast brand of trance - this rabble-rousing duo has energy in abundance. Bassiani Podcast 175 channels Marius and Teo’s firebrand spirit and clandestine forest gatherings with emotive nostalgia as well as fresh and radical optimism. This mix consists of unreleased nordic trance for a dazzling and uncertain future.

We continue to slowly open the stash of unbelievable recordings from ICKPA 2023 in RSO Berlin. This one comes from two Tbilisi heavyweights and their visionary collaboration debuting on past summer edition.

Next up in our mix series is Zitto & Zurkin, two central figures and cornerstones in the Tbilisi-scene. Zitto is a resident at Bassiani, and is turning into one of the most intriguing figures for the local clubbing sphere, with his level of selection and world building. Zurkin is another central figure of the Tbilisi community, being the co-founder of Vodkast Records, both an imprint and Tbilisi vinyl oasis for fervid record lovers.

In this episode we are presenting a marathon live recording of their closing set from Bassiani, January 27th. Dive into this 9,5 hour ride, where they navigate between trance and psychedelic techno from the past three decades. Steering seamlessly through rolling chuggers, trippy euphoria and wormhole trance, Zitto and Zurkin are a truly fruitful symbiosis.

Co-founder of Norway’s future-facing Ute crew, Ekkel (Teo Bachs) has a front-row seat in the cockpit on their psychedelic flavoured quest. From their woodland beginnings they’ve staked a claim to freedom through music and community, and expanded to include brick and mortar club nights and a self-titled label for the release of their magnetic and mysterious techno sounds. Forest-bath electronics that take stock of Scandinavia’s ambient tradition and cross-pollinate it with a measure of acid, trance and midnight sun. Teo’s own steadily rising number of productions (side project H25 included) has fleshed out Ute’s vision with a personal twist, and there’s another three scheduled for the fall. The past few years too have seen him hard at work exploring the possibilities of sound in a lonely cabin as part of Solar Alliance, collaborating with S.O.N.S on Korean label Junction Forest and producing many more unreleased tracks, some of which you’ll hear here first for a very special number. It’s a wormhole trip that marches headlong from the shadows, shimmering and physical beats that heave and swell, tribal breaks that flit from track to track and build a cathartic mood that harks back to Ute’s woodland roots. Next up in our mix-series is our good friend from Georgia, Kvanchi. Kvanchi is a central figure in Tbilisi's scene, being a resident and a core member at Bassiani. As a regular in Horoom, the club's upstairs, he has earned a reputation as one of the city's finest selectors. His deep connection to the local scene is evident not just in his sets, but also through his work as the label manager for Bassiani Records, where he champions both local and international talent.

For this mix Kvanchi takes us on the trippier and trancier sides of his collection, mixing old school stripped down goa records and minimal groove lockers. Kvanchi infuses the mix with a distinct blend of precision and world building - embodying the essence of his artistry, offering a glimpse into the groovy and rolling realms of trance music.

Viennese DJ/Producer Alpha Tracks is best-known as a fleet-footed champion for contemporary neo-trance. Where others to the north of the genre’s beginnings are breathing new life into the musical style, Felix Benedikt holds down the fort in the east, deriving his intrinsic link to its forms from the early millennium record-digging. With releases on imprints like Blue Hour, Ute.Rec., his very own Morbid and newly pressed <AIR WAYS> bristling with scrappy basslines, the shape of his mission is sharp in focus, a revival and reconfiguration of those 90s sounds into something modern and loaded with relevance. Striking parallels with the speed of data in our modern landscape could be made with trance’s newfound acceptance, but for Felix it’s something inherently felt. Logic demands respite, and his palette has changed to suit an equal need for interiority, a slower pace and the psychic realm. Enter Zenaari Mix 017: this latest episode turns down the tempo and strips away the kick of his bellicose basslines for a pure and surrealist patchwork of prophetic sounds.
