Ahmad Ikhlas is a British born Jamaican convert to Islam who has used his heritage and love for the Prophet (pbuh) to generate an expressive unique style of music and poetry.

Ahmad Ikhlas also known as Marlon Gray is a 2nd generation Jamaican born and raised in South London. He was introduced to Islam in school and embraced the faith at the age of 17, following an invitation to the mosque by a close & dear friend also known as UK-Apache.

Ahmad Ikhlas was in the underground UK garage scene (known as Mc Meelos) and always had a genuine love for music production, writing lyrics and performing. While he was new to Islam he stopped his musical ventures and it took more than a decade for him to return to performing.

The Jewelled Necklace Of The Resplendent Prophet's Birth. The Mawlid of al-Barzanji Recorded Live in Cape Town By The Al-Zawiya Singers.  the Mawlid of al-Barzanji, one of the classics of traditional Islamic culture. It is a sung celebration of the birth and greatness of the Holy Prophet Muhammad s, traditionally recited on the anniversary of his birth. Giving thanks for the Holy Prophet is an obligation in Islam; and in this work, Imam Ja’far al-Barzanji (d.1764), a scholar of Kurdish origin who was born and studied in Madina, has given the world the most popular of all recitals of the Prophetic birth. This recording of the Mawlid al-Barzanji was made in Cape Town, with the celebrated Mawlid Jama’at of the Al-Zawiya Mosque, under the direction of Shaykh Seraj Hendricks, formerly Chair of the Fatwa Committee of Cape Town. This was sang in the presence of the prestige scholar of the Shafi school Habib Umar (Tarim, Yemen). This content is not my property.
