How can I not say Sustain. It was by far one of the most surreal DJ experiences I’ve ever had. Just walking over the bridge at sundown surrounded by trees, fogs, lazers and all my besties from all over. Had a moment where I shed a single tear playing a Pat Metheny Group track that my mom used to rinse when I was a kid. Will think about the set forever. 


--best party in recent memory? (not cuz the tunes but because all your bests are there and the vibe/moral is high af)

Mmmm its all a bit of a blur but def hanging with a bunch of friends post Sustain at CNC to see Special Guest DJ. He played one of the best sets I’ve seen all year (mic in hand & all)  and I watched the entire thing start to finish which I feel like can be rare for me. Went to Nowadays right after and ate a bagel on the dancefloor while the sun came up with one eye open. Slept like a baby for an entire day. It was magical.

Every DJ has their own genesis story: a pivotal sound, a formative scene, a defining philosophy. In Kiernan Laveaux's case, her philosophy, rooted in psychedelia and experimentation, sets her apart. Inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and New Order, she came of age in Cleveland’s acid house and queer party scenes, developing an ethos that constantly pushes dance music’s limits. Her DJ style is scrambled (in the best way), with zany tricks like scratching, creative EQing and modulation.

This approach reflects the Midwest's DIY tradition, where artists thrive in isolation and cultivate a radical disobedience, as seen in contemporaries like Eris Drew and ADAB. As Laveaux recounted in a 2023 interview with GROOVE Magazin, "Titonton Duvante once told me that being a Midwest DJ is about playing music from anywhere and making it sound like a piece of your spirit."

Spanning two and a half hours, Laveaux's RA Podcast showcases this spirit. It’s a testament to her decade-long career, blending tracks from friends and cherished memories into a transcendent mix. It’s "music to shake your hips to and decalcify your pineal gland." (For the curious, the pineal gland helps regulate your circadian rhythm.) RA.963 will make you dance and think in equal measure—a beautiful, restless and resolutely wicked journey through a singular imagination.

Born in the mountains of Medellín, as well as being the best design illustrator, Juliana Cuervo -aka Julianna- is part of the third wave of DJs that emerged in the city’s electronic scene since 2007. She played a key role as co-founder of MOVE, her main creative platform, offering a bold alternative sound to the dominant commercial of the time. In 2016, she co-created Nótt, a Latin American feminist collective focused on uplifting emerging artists. She’s also been involved in projects like ECO and Latitudes, projects that explored electronic music through political, community-driven and gender-aware lens.

Her sets weave dynamic percussion and broken rhythms -techno-breaks, trip-funk and house- with fluid transitions and emotional tension, always avoiding the easy “drop” and guiding the dancefloor into immersive experiences. Her sound has taken her to iconic clubs like Berghain, Tresor and Robert Johnson, as well as festivals across Europe, the US, and Latin America. She’s also been featured on renowned radio stations like NTS, Rinse FM, The Lot Radio and Refuge Worldwide. As a producer, she’s released on Cómeme, including the EP -Que si el mundo- with Matías Aguayo.

Her latest project, BAMBA, aims to inspire new and future generations to explore sound as an infinity tool for connection, resistance, and collective transformation. No doubt, Juli is one of the finest in the game.
