Flicker and fracture is a sonic collage, crafted from the recorded sounds of a workshop where participants explored improvisation and sound as pure expression. Using prepared guitar, synthesizers, and human voices, they generated raw material that was later transformed into these compositions.

Through selection and layering, these recordings were shaped into structured works that retain the energy and spontaneity of the workshop. Each piece reflects a moment of discovery and collaboration, reimagined into a cohesive sonic journey.

This EP celebrates the interplay between improvisation and composition, turning ephemeral sounds into lasting artistic expression.

Orion In Motion captures the celestial grandeur of the constellation Orion, transforming astronomical data into an auditory cosmos. This recorded section of a computer algorithm, originally conceptualized as a sound installation, sonifies the positions, motions, brightness, and spectral types of Orion's major stars using techniques of parameter-mapping sonification.

Inspired by the mythology and cosmic dynamics of Orion, the piece intertwines randomness and algorithmic precision. Stars become sound sources, emitting shimmering drones, evolving chords, and clouds of notes. Each celestial body's data—derived from SIMBAD's astronomical catalog—is mapped to sound synthesis parameters, creating an ever-evolving sonic cosmos.

The result is an infinite soundscape where the heavens move in sound and time, inviting listeners to explore the cosmic mystery through the language of music. This recording distills a moment of the algorithm's perpetual evolution, offering a glimpse into the boundless interplay of science and art.

Orion In Motion

Utku Bettemir dinleyiciyi bir Yavuz Gözeller filmi “Talihsiz Karşılaşmalar Ve Göz Kaçırmalar Üzerine Bir Trajedi” üzerine bestesi ile karşılar. Film, kimyasal filmden dijital filme geçişteki bu tarihsel kırılmayı, salt görüntünün mefhum zamanla film hafızası ve üretimi bağlamında etkileşimini, seyir deneyimi üzerinden sorgular.

Ses kolajlarından oluşan bu müzikal yaratım, görüntünün oluşturduğu nostaljik hissiyatı dinleyiciye hatırlatır. Bütünlüğünde, görüntünün işaret ettiği mekan, karakter ve nesneleri duysal yaratım etrafında sembolize eder. Zaman zaman müzik, film için ses tasarımı halini alır, ses tasarımı müzikal bir öğe olarak karşımıza çıkar.

Bettemir composed and produced the music for the film “A Tragedy on Unfortunate Encounters and Glancing Away” directed by Yavuz Gözeller. The film scrutinizes the historical rupture of the transition to digital film from celluloid, the interaction of the pure image with time as a concept within the context of production and memory of the film over the experience of watching.

In the music you hear a collage of sounds which evokes the nostalgic feeling of the image. In its integrity, it symbolizes the images of places, characters and objects in the sense of musical production. Time to time the music becomes the sound design of the film and the sound design turns into the elements of the music.

No Control Blues unfolds in two acts, both exploring the fragile dance between authority and vulnerability.

The first act, built on a transformed metal bowl’s sound and William S. Burroughs’ Pistol Poem No. 2, explores power and control through fragmented, haunting collages. The second act turns to Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose poetry reveals love's disarming power, echoed in the manipulated sound of a closing jar lid.

Through layered spoken words and intricate sound collages, the piece constructs a theatrical image for the ears. Its abrupt transitions, like cinematic jump-cuts, dramatize the listening experience, leaving a haunting interplay of control and chaos in their wake.
