A broken man's hymn resonates from the glass,
That reminds him of love he was sure wouldn't pass.

He wipes his face clean with an old handkerchief,
And returns his whole gaze to his red liquid grief.

A testament to all the claims he is weak,
He flew over the ranges and snapped off his beak.

A name he's now made that is pulling him down,
That it's not through his lungs but his sorrow he'll drown.

So lay out your troubles

A chance to make ripples

Playing cards until I win,
Drinking cheap wine a cleanskin.
On repeat of three night stays,
Those were simpler days.

Backyard games until sunrise,
Hangovers and bloodshot eyes.
