AURUM are back with their second release. The sister label of TELUM launched in March last year with the usual format – an unknown artist, with untitled tracks. In a rare reveal of the creator behind the craft, AURUM002 comes complete with tags attached. This one comes from Nu Zau.

A name already well established with the platform, Nu Zau has featured across the TELUM podcast series as well as serving up sounds live and direct from recent events. Both are cultural expressions that reflect the diversity, history, and identity of their peoples. Romanian music is characterized by its melodic richness, the use of instruments like the violin, flute, and accordion, and its influence from different ethnicities and regions, such as the Gypsies, Moldavians, and Transylvanians. Colombian music is also highly diverse, combining indigenous, African, and European elements, adapting to the various climates and landscapes of the country, like cumbia, vallenato, and bambuco.

These two types of music can harmoniously blend, creating a unique and original sound that celebrates musical diversity and creativity.

On this occasion, the union goes beyond tradition; thick and sequenced kicks with long harmonics intertwine with the percussions; the dry and raw bass does not limit the voices that can be heard in the background; this is what the fusion of two minimal worlds brings us. The precise brushstrokes, contributed to these musical pieces, perfectly contrast with the structure and style of each artist. We could say that a new sound has been achieved, and the minds behind the creation venture into new unions.

Eban Krocher is a Chilean artist who reached out to us, and the connection was immediate. His sound moves between house and tech house with a minimalist approach, avoiding both modern trends and nostalgia. These are serious, direct tracks made with clarity. Freund has a free, broken vibe, with loose claps, experimental vocals, and a style reminiscent of Villalobos’ minimal. Schulee, on the other hand, is more introspective, leaning towards techno, with looping vocals that act as texture over a dry groove. This is just his first release with us, and we hope it marks the beginning of many more.

The EP also features two remixes that complement the original tracks perfectly. ioan vasile takes Freund into a darker territory, offering an experimental take with microhouse influences. purple juice brings a rominimal touch to Schulee, creating an even deeper, more hypnotic atmosphere, while maintaining the original track's minimal energy.
