Exclusive Bawrut 'Pioneers'

Madrid-based producer Bawrut has turned to one of the freshest musical exports of the Iberian peninsular in recent years. As his style holds classic as well as new elements the producer creates an overlap that DJs and club-goers cannot only agree on but rather become enthusiastic about. The artist's latest work, his 'Jomo EP', is going to be released shortly on PETS Recordings and the four-tracker and represents the Bawrut's aforementioned musical approach. 'Pioneers', the A1 of the EP and probably namely paying tribute to original electronic music artists, does the same in terms of sounds without a reference to today's club-culture as the chosen elements and synth-chords may follow a vintage approach but sound so refurbished that the sparkle of the present if not to say the future shines through. 

Bawrut's EP 'Jomo' will be released December 7th, 2018 on PETS Recordings.

The first Afro Acid release by Italian duo we.amps, Path is anything but a shy introduction to the artists’ sound.

“Acid Path (Original Mix)” begins with a striking vocal refrain and boomy kick, followed by a series of thunderous synth stabs and a moody rumbling undercurrent that does not come up for air as the track builds toward a stunning soulful breakdown, transforming this hard-hitting acid heater into an instant classic guaranteed to catalyze countless dance floors post-release on October 5th.

A nefarious synth refrain distinguishes the otherwise standard intro of “Atomic Path (Original Mix)”, the second track on Path. Similar to Acid Path, Atomic Path utilizes the breakdown to transform the track into something new - this time a playful departure into the world of the ambient synth, a dreamy interlude not commonly found in a dark and bass-heavy tech-house track - but then, “common” is not really what Afro Acid is known for.

Pacing through corridors that lack a definitive end, he attempts to make sense of it all. Something seems glaringly off, but he just can’t place his finger on it. As walls ebb, bow and collapse, he happily accepts the seemingly impossible nature of the shapes around him as part of a structured reality. The previously straight corridor begins to bend wildly, like a dowsing rod in nervous hands, leading in directions he’s unsure he wishes to be heading. The path tapers off and the walls fluctuate with incomprehensible iridescent colour before shattering into a landscape of fractals which promptly dissolve. A white room and a closed door is all that remains. “Should I open it?” he wonders. 

The latest EP set for release on highly respected French label Astropolis comes via techno producer Blutch. The EP features six tracks of glee-inducing electronica that gives credence to the saying “the French do it better”. Bookending the tracklist is a gorgeous remix of ‘La cité des étoiles’ by Kompakt affiliate Michael Mayer. The track glows with an evolving motif of glittering synth leads that build towards a larger-than-life finale, all happening atop a steady foundation of shuffling hats and driving techno kicks.
