VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring Biemsix.

Biemsix has been making a name for himself through his dedication and creative nous, driven by a deep passion for dance music. Immersed in his local scene from an early age, he began attracting attention as he evolved towards a cleaner, more techno-oriented sound, shaped by the clubbing scene. Over time, Biemsix became an esteemed figure in the music world through his productions. Since his first release in 2011, he has showcased his talent with widespread recognition, developing his signature sound across different musical styles.

His most acclaimed works have been released on some of the most respected techno record labels, including Ben Sims’s Symbolism, Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records, and Scuba’s Hotflush. In 2021, he released his first album, Find Your Own Meaning. A few years later, James Ruskin and Ryan Elliott contributed remixes of two tracks from the album.

This episode continues VARIA's mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

Schimmer podcast #58 by Louis The 4th, a Vinyl-only DJ, inveterate digger, label owner - all the hats worn by this mysterious artist who has chosen to put his technique at the service of his music rather than the spotlight.

Passionate about the history that gave techno its credentials, drawing on influences
from Detroit to Berlin, Louis The 4th has chosen to tell the story in his own way through a relentless selecta. 90's weapons, 2000's tribal sound, 2010's deepness or more actual driving and effective sound, here's what you can expect during his sets.

On the production side, he released ep's on Planet Rhythm, Tar Hallow, … while his music is played by the biggest names in Europe's most renowned clubs.

His lethal sound, coupled with a surgical mixing technique, has led him to play the prestigious Fuse booth in Brussels, RADION in Amsterdam FVTVR in Paris and KALT in Strasbourg, to name but a few.

He just announced his side-project called 'Erahcli' with his very first album that oscillates between ambient, slower sounds, dub techno and more experimental crafts.

Uun's techno blends widescreen grayscale imagery with propulsive dancefloor pressure. Whether crafting what Hardwax dubs "straight ahead techno juggernauts" or deep, introspective tools, his work is grounded in a masterful command of atmosphere and texture. 

Uun developed his interest in fringe sounds as a guitarist and drummer in his hometown of Kansas City before shifting his attention to electronic music in 2012. This led him to relocate to Detroit, where he spent seven years pushing deeper into the underground techno scene, refining his production and performance methods. Between the Midwest and  several periods in Berlin—another city he's found a deep connection to—he's honed a style that's allowed his music to nimbly navigate between different subgenres, "quietly infiltrating" the genre from multiple angles at once. 

Uun's sound and his ability to mold it into a variety of forms has captured the attention of lauded techno labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma. On his own Ego Death imprint, he pushes past genre confines and deeper into his music's underlying themes, exploring existentialism, duality, and the role of the artist in the modern era. His first full length, 2022's Derealization, interrogated dreams through rebuilding memories of liminal spaces, and on his latest Ego Death release, 2024's Platform Decay, he laces his tracks with a poignant criticism of social media-driven cultural homogenization while doubling down on his own uncompromising sound. 

As a live performer, Uun distills years of his studio practice into cathartic sets that build off his productions while pushing them into exploratory new territory. His live show has taken him to legendary clubs like Berlin's Tresor, Tbilisi's Khidi, Detroit's Movement Festival, and Brookyln's Basement, and alongside the decade-plus of releases under his belt, it's safe to say Uun's infiltration of techno might not be so quiet for much longer.
