To be able to work on sound, you have to know silence in depth. In order to create sound elements, it is necessary to delve into their absence. Ignoring the parameters, dynamics, and mechanisms of silence in music production leads to an incomplete end result. How can we fight the silence?

This question has been the obsession of two DJs and producers, who have spent the last few months analyzing and working on the most feasible answer. Joton and C2Ø have joined forces to design a sound experiment based on the most industrial techno that combines the values of the past with the audacity of the most futuristic sounds. ✨🌑💫

Serbian producer, Milo Raad, returns to Soma after appearing on last year’s Collective process VA with a full EP of his own solid and hypnotic tracks on the Hornet EP. Balancing driving, heady and cerebral sound with subtle rhythmic movement, Raad builds a quality release packed with power and attitude.

Solaris opens the EP with perfectly crafted, syncopated rhythms that gradually builds and creating a perfect storm of Techno. The Hornet drifts in to more hypnotic and dark territory as buzzing synths lines form the backbone of the track. Bacteria (Locked Drum Version) has Read crafting the perfect DJ tool complete with droning atmospheres as Voyager closes out with Raad’s signature deep and pervasive sound.

Uun's techno blends widescreen grayscale imagery with propulsive dancefloor pressure. Whether crafting what Hardwax dubs "straight ahead techno juggernauts" or deep, introspective tools, his work is grounded in a masterful command of atmosphere and texture. 

Uun developed his interest in fringe sounds as a guitarist and drummer in his hometown of Kansas City before shifting his attention to electronic music in 2012. This led him to relocate to Detroit, where he spent seven years pushing deeper into the underground techno scene, refining his production and performance methods. Between the Midwest and  several periods in Berlin—another city he's found a deep connection to—he's honed a style that's allowed his music to nimbly navigate between different subgenres, "quietly infiltrating" the genre from multiple angles at once. 

Uun's sound and his ability to mold it into a variety of forms has captured the attention of lauded techno labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma. On his own Ego Death imprint, he pushes past genre confines and deeper into his music's underlying themes, exploring existentialism, duality, and the role of the artist in the modern era. His first full length, 2022's Derealization, interrogated dreams through rebuilding memories of liminal spaces, and on his latest Ego Death release, 2024's Platform Decay, he laces his tracks with a poignant criticism of social media-driven cultural homogenization while doubling down on his own uncompromising sound. 

As a live performer, Uun distills years of his studio practice into cathartic sets that build off his productions while pushing them into exploratory new territory. His live show has taken him to legendary clubs like Berlin's Tresor, Tbilisi's Khidi, Detroit's Movement Festival, and Brookyln's Basement, and alongside the decade-plus of releases under his belt, it's safe to say Uun's infiltration of techno might not be so quiet for much longer.
