Residing in Paris via Marseille, Hemka has been impressing in the wider techno scene following stellar releases on Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint, TWR72’s Float Records and Tripeo aka Darko Esser’s BALANS label. Hemka’s intricate yet vibrant productions with an emotional, hypnotic edge have garnered support from names such as Rebekah, Anthony Parasole, Truncate and Dasha Rush in addition to seeing her join the likes of Len Faki, Surgeon and James Ruskin in and around the Parisian and European club circuit. ‘Hunger Waves’ sees Hemka drop her debut album on BALANS following releases from Mike Parker, ROD, 3KZ, label boss Darko Esser and many more.
‘Discovery’ kicks off the album with space-fueled modulations, sweeping synths and uplifting elements before ‘Golden Coins’ deploys shimmering rhythms, eerie yet enticing tones elegantly harmonising with undulant, low frequencies. ‘Emergency’ together with ‘Mushroom Kingdom’ and ‘Retrieved’ see the album gain momentum with three energetic techno rollers which balance tripped-out oscillations, unsettling atmospherics and reverberating weight bouncing off the throbbing kicks.
‘The Lost Levels’ keeps the energy flowing through growling synthesis, spiraling strings and head- spinning grooves until ‘Innocence’ lays focus on syncopated 909 rhythms, tension-building melodies and bright, whirling bleeps throughout. ‘Hunger Waves’ moves into emotive territories gracefully fusing euphoric euphony, warm and progressive chords and wistful ambience until ‘Unusual Situation’ rounds off the impressive package with gentle keys, bubbly drums orbiting around beautifully subtle themes.

Growing up in many different places, his general love for music is one of very few constants in Kobiko’s life. Going through different phases and genres during his youth, our newest resident is now fully entrenched in electronic music and in particular techno.

In his podcast Kobiko demonstrates how the genre that we all love can be hard and dark, yet incredibly beautiful. Striking melodies, both gloomy and serene, accompany intense drums, making it easy to get lost in the music. This set will get you dancing, dreaming, thinking or everything at once. Uun's techno blends widescreen grayscale imagery with propulsive dancefloor pressure. Whether crafting what Hardwax dubs "straight ahead techno juggernauts" or deep, introspective tools, his work is grounded in a masterful command of atmosphere and texture. 

Uun developed his interest in fringe sounds as a guitarist and drummer in his hometown of Kansas City before shifting his attention to electronic music in 2012. This led him to relocate to Detroit, where he spent seven years pushing deeper into the underground techno scene, refining his production and performance methods. Between the Midwest and  several periods in Berlin—another city he's found a deep connection to—he's honed a style that's allowed his music to nimbly navigate between different subgenres, "quietly infiltrating" the genre from multiple angles at once. 

Uun's sound and his ability to mold it into a variety of forms has captured the attention of lauded techno labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma. On his own Ego Death imprint, he pushes past genre confines and deeper into his music's underlying themes, exploring existentialism, duality, and the role of the artist in the modern era. His first full length, 2022's Derealization, interrogated dreams through rebuilding memories of liminal spaces, and on his latest Ego Death release, 2024's Platform Decay, he laces his tracks with a poignant criticism of social media-driven cultural homogenization while doubling down on his own uncompromising sound. 

As a live performer, Uun distills years of his studio practice into cathartic sets that build off his productions while pushing them into exploratory new territory. His live show has taken him to legendary clubs like Berlin's Tresor, Tbilisi's Khidi, Detroit's Movement Festival, and Brookyln's Basement, and alongside the decade-plus of releases under his belt, it's safe to say Uun's infiltration of techno might not be so quiet for much longer.
