After the success of "A Quest Called Tribe" Lp, made with his partner in creation Stéphane Carricondo, the team choosed this time to pay a tribute to the epic duo Eric B & Rakim.

Marked with the "living legend" title, second 7 inch on My Bags catalog, Medline continue a collection dedicated to Hip Hop icons. The two fabulous tracks plus the bonus, each chiseled as a brand new creation, reminisce us the feeling of boom bap's music and its origins. Soul, Jazz, Funk to Hip Hop, ten old to the new....

Medline travels into time, heading to the sources, opening musical capsules, blending ingenuously all the ingredients from the original compositions and from the beats forged with their samples, decades after, by Eric B and Dj Premier. Medline's musical artwork on this 45 is an arborescent path, linking three musical era and generations. A window opened upon 50 years of creation.

"Where the Grid Sinks" is a sonic diptych from baitong~xystems and I - 2 individual mixes consecutively recorded live at V2X radio, in Saigon, Vietnam days before Tet.

These pieces document an aversion to grid-based principles, canonical in graphic design, but also in sound production and mixes among other things. As a 2 piece variation, the patched up sound fragments merge, taking on a ghostly chapter of the web Junkspace.

We have endless gratitude for the V2X team, our We Do Good Studio friends, and the magical city of Saigon for providing the space for one of our favourite mixes. Nothing but a blessing to get to know the ASEAN regions.

"This mix is to honor not only DOOM's visionary approach and beautiful ear in terms of sampling, but the way in which he utilized found voices to shape his own world narrative(s). Here, the voice of the Metal Fellow is heard over the original sources of Metal Fingers.

There's more than a few easter egg type nods to his process/technique - including one referring to the interplay of his own voice and a narrator, as heard in the opening moments of KMD's 'Mr Hood.'

There were quite a few lovely tributes which incorporated original samples and I tried to be mindful in creating and selecting for this work. I hope you enjoy the musical journey and be safe out there"
