The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Paul Hamilton and Anartist to the label for their debut EP. The former, born in Malta and now based in Dubai, is one of the underground's most highly regarded progressive house artists. Paul has found a home on Armada, Balkan Connection, Droid9, Freegrant Music and Perspectives Digital, while his equally impressive DJ skills have seen him perform at Ministry Of Sound (Dubai) and Godskitchen (Dubai). Similarly, Polish born, Israel based producer and DJ Anartist has been a fixture of Tel Aviv's nightlife for over a decade, delighting crowds with his fresh blend of progressive house and melodic house and techno. Also an accomplished producer, Anartist has showcased his music via Beatfreak Limited, Heinz Music and Perspectives Digital. Now coming together for their debut collaborations, Paul and Anartist land on Movement Recordings with 'Dialo', alongside remixes from Julian Nates and Ric Niels.

Providing the second and final interpretation of 'Dialo' is Julian Nates who returns to the label for his second appearance. As one of Argentina's most promising talents, the Cordoba resident lays claim to releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and Soundteller Records, while also earning the praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. Having made his Movement Recordings debut in December of last year with a contribution to the label's 'Prognoesis' Vol. 01. Julian now returns to the label with a stellar take on 'Dialo'. A touch deeper than the original, its groovy framework is offset with flickering arps and sweeping effects. Rising atmospheres and rolling rhythms keep the mood squarely on the dance floor, elevating mood leading into the second of two breaks. Tense and cosmic in equal measure, timely modulation delights across the interlude, perfectly setting up a classy crescendo and purring final movement. Progressive house excellence once again from Julian Nates, which rounds out a massive Movement Recordings debut for Paul Hamilton & Anartist. Don't miss it.

In March 2022, Jiminy Hop released his dazzling 3-track "Johlin" EP to widespread critical acclaim. Meanwhile now revisits the EP with a remix of "Colatrix" from Australian legend and label co-founder, Matter.

Matty Doyle has been at the cutting edge of underground house for over a decade with his Matter pseudonym. A leading exponent of the modern progressive sound, his trademark basslines and captivating rhythmic backdrops have lit up clubs across the globe. Often in collaboration with friend and fellow Melbourne resident, GMJ, Matter's music has found favour among such illustrious imprints as Anjunadeep, Proton Music, Mango Alley and onedotsixtwo. Furthermore, over 40 production credits have found their way onto Meanwhile and Meanwhile Horizons, with the latter accounting for November 2011's full album debut, "Starchild".

Returning to the flagship imprint, home of November 2020's "Amanita" and January 2022's "Banksia", the Matter remix of "Colatrix" is propelled forward with a thumping kick and shaker-fuelled top line. Adding a buttery smooth arpeggio to proceedings that deliciously filters as it develops, familiar melodic elements from Jiminy Hop's track drift across the 8-minute offering. Sumptuous pads, fizzing with white-noise energy, pulsate through the post-breakdown denouement as Matter finds a way to extend the original in new and vibrant directions.

As Matter revisits Jiminy Hop with trademark elegance and brio "Colatrix" is given another opportunity to shine brightly in multi-faceted beauty.

Returning to Meanwhile with a full debut EP, Zankee Gulati continues his journey as a rising progressive house talent with the “Mind Opener / Magnetic Island” EP. A single remix comes from Argentinean duo, Analog Jungs.

A recognised force in his Sydney hometown, Zankee Gulati has continued to see his star shine increasingly bright within the underground dance firmament. An artist and promoter renowned for his spellbinding sets across Sydney’s clubs and for bringing the likes of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Ben Bohmer to New South Wales, the Australian’s performance in the studio has only cemented a rapidly growing reputation. A mounting catalogue of sumptuous offerings has increasingly featured on the likes of Sudbeat Music, The Soundgarden and Balance Music, plus a standout contribution to John Digweed’s “Futuro” compilation on Bedrock, with “Low Tide” in collaboration with fellow countryman, Jamie Stevens. Two appearances on GMJ & Matter’s imprints in December 2022 saw “The Magic Spoon” feature on “Beyond The Horizon, Vol. 2”, while “HereAfter” found its way onto the flagship label’s, “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 3” in July 2023.

Now hitting the heights once more, the light and airy tones of “Mind Opener” reveal themselves over a strong kick and ticking percussive top-line. Rippling arps and a strong motif keep the energy high as analogue edge gradually develops within the latter with an open filter creates a range of harmonic frequencies that shine over a beatless breakdown. Dropping back into the hefty rhythmic groove, the track then draws to its meticulously sculpted conclusion. “Magnetic Island” is a deep, chugging powerhouse. Full of rhythmic prowess and building elegantly through thumping kick and shaker-driven groove, a beautiful melodic passage develops within a hypnotic arp that filters to a powerful denouement in the final stages. The strong rhythmic narrative of its predecessor then finds its place once more in the final stages.

A single remix comes from Argentinean duo, Analog Jungs, who first came to Meanwhile prominence on their 3-track “Surrender” EP in March 2022. Already regulars on blue-chip labels that include Mango Alley, Hope Recordings and Manual Music, the Córdoba-based pair excel once more with a chunky interpretation that creates a trademark rhythmic foundation and driving bassline groove. Adding tropes from Zankee Gulati’s original, they turn “Mind Opener” into an exciting and dynamic new track that is redolent in additional production material and melodic invention. The result is a powerful remix that is an exceptional addition to the EP.

Returning to spearhead Meanwhile’s output as 2025 kicks into gear, the collaborative pairing of GMJ & Matter deliver “Telomeres” alongside a remix from Australian icons Kasey Taylor and Karl Pilbrow for their 2023 hit “EXT 135” to round out the package.

The Melbourne-based duo behind the Meanwhile imprint are widely recognised as responsible for helping shape the modern Progressive House scene. Pivotal in the development of the label’s development both as solo artists and with their combined output, their work on Meanwhile has seen the “Lost on Origin”, “Gauntlet” and “Eldarin” EPs all released over the label’s inaugural year (between April and August 2020), before “The Path / Perfect Storm” followed 6 months later. 18 months elapsed before “Ext 135 / Elemental / Time To Space” appeared at the end of 2022 with “Stellaris / Idritah” following a year later in December 2023.

Now as 2025 finds its feet, GMJ & Matter provide their fans with a seventh original release on their ever-evolving label. The powerful building blocks that shape “Telomeres” evolve easily from its rolling groove foundations and deep sub-bassline sequence. A muted arp comes to the fore in perfect synchronous cadence while the endless delays present in the analogue motif cascade across the stereo spectrum filling the sonic space. A new and dynamic arpeggio appears at the breakdown as its gradual open filter provides the weight and dancefloor gravitas to herald a drop into the third movement. The same sequence makes an appearance in the second half in combination with the other rhythmic and melodic characters, to devastating effect.

Vapour Recordings head honcho, Kasey Taylor needs little introduction to the Meanwhile cognoscenti. A bona fide electronic music legend, the Australian artist has been at the vanguard of the progressive scene since the mid-90s with a double century of credits on such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, Afterglow and John Digweed’s Bedrock and a century on his own Vapour Recordings. New Zealander, Karl Pilbrow moved to his adopted Melbourne home in 2012 before a partnership with Kasey Taylor witnessed a score of production credits including 2020’s “Amber Skies” and 2023’s “Fairlight” on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. A trio of original releases on Vapour followed, not least in July 2024’s “Sonorous / Alluvium / Inscape”. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the Kasey Taylor & Karl Pilbrow remix of “EXT 135” contains the deep bassline presence of the original while an unrelenting, rapid-fire groove creates a magical tension. Developing sonic intrigue, the melodic progression of the original’s breakdown is found wedded to the driving rhythm in majestic and spine-tingling fashion. Full of bassline intensity, familiar vocal cuts and melodic fragility are the perfect counterweight to the rhythmic heft.
