Released on Unheard Records' Compilation 004: 귀신소리 "Ghost Sound"

"Flute Rings" combines flute, drone and field recordings taken in rural East Anglia (UK). The recordings capture some of the medieval paths trailed by so-called "witch hunters" in the 17th century which now connect various church ruins. The track responds to the lingering presence of this period and its historical upheaval, with tormented glissandos that repeat in unpredictable, unsettling cycles. The overlaid flutes are in conflict with each other, yet in the moments when two tones are perfectly in tune, they produce a third tone (M. Amacher) – or “ghost tone.”
