Back with our occasional Mix series and this time we feature the excellent sister duo based in New York the Analog Soul , whom we had the pleasure of sharing the decks with back in December 2016 when we all played for Discwoman .
Born in the SF Bay area to a writer mother and sculptor father, their childhood was marked by an avid appreciation and promotion of the arts and culture. At a young age Jacquelyn would soon discover her talent as a dancer while Kat pursued the fine arts through painting and drawing. Music however, would prove to be their destined paths. As 80's kids, part of the first generation of MTV, the sister's found themselves glued to the tube, mesmerized by the sounds of new wave and post punk, early hip hop, classic soul/r&b and pop, and developed a keen interest in jazz, fostered by their father's love of legends such as Chick Corea, Thelonius Monk, Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis, to name a few, while artists like Herbie Hancock, Paul Hardcastle and Kraftwerk would later influence their introduction to electronic music. Fast forward to the late 90s. Parties at SF’s Sound Factory, 1015, the EndUp and introduced the duo to nightlife, electronic music and DJ culture.
An acceptance to the famed Alvin Ailey School in 2001 would see Jacquelyn off to New York. After shopping weekly at the legendary DanceTracks record store, she landed a job there, eventually becoming shop manager and music buyer. DatKat moved to NYC a year later and began quietly honing her skills. In 2004 the ladies secured a weekly radio spot on the famed eastvillageradio.com and the Analog Soul show was born. The long- running show aired every Monday night from 10pm-12amand explored what they deemed "the deeper, darker side of techno and house"--but it also showcased the full spectrum of electronic music, from minimal, acid, Detroit techno, electro, dub, dubstep, and d&b to trip hop and other forms, with special guests ranging from Function to Simbad, Roland Appel, Slam Mode, and Dj Qu. While the overall sound was largely dance-based, the show was aimed at promoting quality underground music and artists, and to expose some otherwise “genre-biased” listeners to a wider range of electronica. Although it ended in 2009, the twins would continue to play regularly at various venues in the city, such as APT, Love, and Stay.
DatKat played Montreal’s Academy Club and more international gigs would soon follow, with headlining stints in Kiev, Ukraine at Xlib Club and Sky Art Cafe and Moscow’s legendary Propaganda Club for Nina Kraviz's “Voices” party alongside resident Vakula. In early 2011, Kat formed a collective called RADIO with close friend Lenny Posso (label boss of Chronicles and Thema Records) and A.Arias, a record collector and NYC promoter (Strobelight Network), and began throwing warehouse parties tailored to bringing the real underground back to NYC, booking the likes of Terrence Dixon, Oliver Ho, Christian Rau, Small People, and Trus'me among others.
As Analog Soul, they play regularly as residents of Brooklyn's Bossa Nova Civic Club as well as Lebain, Output, Goodroom and many of the top underground events in Brooklyn. They played the inaugural edition of Sustain Release (2014), Resident Advisors in residence series with Mood 2 Swing in 2016, Mysteryland 2016 with Art Department, Omar S and Derrick Carter, and a New York edition of Boiler Room with Anthony Parasole, A.Arias and Volvox, to name a few. Through their partnership with Baltimore veteran Donny Burlin, they've promoted and curated many events under Space is the Place, a mythical, legendary DIY artist wharehouse, which has hosted the likes of Mike Huckaby, Theo Parrish, DJ
Bone, DJ Spinna, Chez Damier, Kai Alce, Mood 2 Swing, Stingray, Sublimate, Mutual Dreaming and many more.

Just uploaded a mix on the Uzuri Soundcloud , continued on our series of supporting the local dj . this time we have a great mix by Wendel Sield . one of our favourite dj's out of Amsterdam . Wendel is part of the ace 'Our Society Crew ' who are responsible for some of the best programmed events in Amsterdam . Our Society events that have seen the likes of Theo Parrish (who played @ Their ADE Party @ Radion in 2016 - the party which was touted as one of the best parties of Ade then ), Glenn Underground , Akatak , Rahaan , Jamie 3:26 , Byron The Aquarius .+ more .
we got the opportunity to play at Our Society's 2017 addition of Kings Night @ Radion where we got to hear Wendel putting in a great set . recently we also got the opportunity to play and be a part of the Our Society stage @ Amsterdam Open Air festival .
wendel has put together a conceptual mix intercepting the mix with snippets of Gill scott Heron to reflect on our current political climate .
Wendel also founded the 0356 Kollektiv which focus on Global beats on Red Light Radio and has also had a release on Banofee Pies .

JP Anders has mostly played in Berlin bar for the past eight years.  
A vinyl enthusiast since his early teens, ,  presenting of  various colours like a  painter's palette with which transportive and emotive illustrations can be made.

He was quoted in 2012 in the Taz newspaper as having said „Nothing works without music“, and to this day, that remains his driving philosophy. For him, it is less about a particular style of music and more about exploring how relatively good and musical music can affect one's senses. Before venturing into DJing professionally now well over 20 years ago, he expresses this enthralling feeling from having attended his first rave events. This is the feeling he strives to convey when behind turntables. „Being lost in music must be a gift from god, because in these moments, it seems all pain melts away.“

Anders has played in many venues in and around in Berlin from the now defunct Tacheles to Südblock, Möbel Olfe and his resident bar gig since 2009 Ficken 3000, to Schilling Bar, Cassiopeia, the defunct CCCP club Torstr., the Lab at Berghain and most recently Wax Treatment. In the coming weeks you can catch him at the quaint cafe Filter House in the Graefe Kiez playing an eclectic mix of „bar music“ and also in the newly renovated Paloma Bar at Kottbusser Tor, both located in Berlin, Germany.

Zurkin is a dj and a professional dog walker from Tbilisi, Georgia. 
He is a co-founder of Vodkast Records – a record shop, label and podcast based in Tbilisi. Zurkin has been playing for more than 10 years at all clubs of Tbilisi’s rising electronic music scene. He is also one of the founders of community ‘11th’ – a musical school and platform for young artists.

We first had the pleasure of hearing Zurkin play when Uzuri founder , Lakuti first played in Tbilisi back in 2015 . Lakuti since played a few times after that in the city with Zurkin with 2017 being the highlight , where Zurkin delivered 1 of the best opening set Lakuti has ever experienced . The party was literally shook to the rafters by the time Lakuti & Tama Sumo took the reigns without Zurkin ever pumping it out .

hi everyone . it's been a minute since we hosted a mix . we are very proud to bring to you a mix by 2 of the most elegant djs out of New york . Pls meet the duo Musclecars .

Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the artform. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles. 

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.

we had the pleasure of contributing to the Kwaitour event @ Ohm Berlin in May . Belgium raised berlin based dj Gratts also played the same event and his set was recorded .
DJ Gratts has spent the best part of two decades lugging bags of records around Europe, and latterly Asia and Australia with increasing frequency. First biting the bug for good-time house, techno and disco in the late 90s, he honed his craft as part of the We Play House gang throughout the following decade, and began pushing out of his homeland around the 10s. In keeping the heart of the music in mind, Gratts ensures the feet are always engaged. Genres aren’t important, though: no matter what’s spinning, it’s all about the uplift, the heart and the freedom. His deep knowledge of groove-heavy, dancefloor-ready music affords him versatility - he’s as comfortable playing alongside Steffi or DJ Sprinkles as Hunee or András Fox. As well as an able selector, he’s a keen curator-collaborator: he produces music under his own name, as Icarus Traxx and with Eluize as Ca$hminus; he plays records with San Soda as Het Collect-Ief Deruyter; and last but not least with fellow Belgian dj Kong, he runs the ensemble label from Brussels .
while many records played in this set are South-African, probably just as many aren't, but were influenced by (his personal vision) of the kwaito vibe and aesthetic. So apart from house music, bubblegum and kwaito, the mix also contains non SA produced tunes that got played on SA dancefloors, SA themed records (e.g. Massive Sounds / Bobby Konders' "Free South Africa") .

In 2019 he also contributed a track with Luis 93 to the newly launched local label City Bowl Wax Network Compilation 01 alongside Zanasi WiFi, Terrence Pearce and Tim Hastie.

Formed in May 2017, the Femme Kollektive Experiment is a pro-womxnjoint venture by 5 women collectors and spinners from South Africa with a river deep love for music across genres, time and space. With a combined DJing experience of over 10 years, the collective was formed in an effort to circumvent the somewhat exclusionary nature of the male-dominated DJ industry by creating, sustaining and promoting independence and womxn-centric platforms. The collective embraces music as a platform for finding and offering healing to the creators and listeners of music alike. From Jazz to Soul, Pluto to Mars, the quintet defines itself as boundary pushers, out-of-the-box thinkers who will, along the journey, share, liberate, excite and educate those who walk with them. KaySoul began making music production in the year 2010 till present.

he draws inspiration from  Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers & from so much around him . 
he has two music awards that he won at the Dance Music Awards South Africa in the year 2018. One award for the "Remix of the Year" and another one for "Best Male DJ"

KaySoul released an EP in 2019 "The Prosimians EP" on Tooman Records from Germany. The Prosimians EP received support from 5 Magazine, International DJ Mag, 5FM, Vuzu TV Hit Refresh and played by Lars Behrenroth on Deeper Shades of House and his music has been supported by the likes of Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Rocco and Ralf Gum. We are pleased to host a mix by one of our favourite creatives in berlin who mesmerises with a mix that touches every corner with heart and uniqueness .

NM DJ is a recording and printing artist based in Berlin. Her vocal practice developed out of writing and reciting poetry at readings organized by TABLOID Press – a publishing house she co-founded with Zoe Darsee in 2014. She has collaborated as a vocalist with musical artists such as Perila, Special Guest DJ, Soho Rezanejad, and Ulla Straus, and in November 2019 performed a live set with exael on Berlin’s HÖR radio. As a designer, she has produced album graphics for labels including wood//work, Experiences Ltd., Uzuri, and Lillerne Tapes.

stepping up for the first mix is one of the most bad ass collectors out there and a personal fave . Naledi Chai aka Mama Zeph . Naledi Chai  is a Johannesburg based DJ, multidisciplinary visual artist and researcher and is also one half of The Fly Machine Sessions. She has been a vinyl DJ for well over 7 years and is an avid collector of independent cinema and underground music where she explores a wide selection left field and cross genre sounds on vinyl. She has been running The Fly Machine Sessions alongside DJHotdog Fingarz for 8 years where they have been collecting records and in recent years, Mama Zeph has helped take The Fly machine sessions on a journey across the country tracking down artists, researching and archiving South African music for future research projects. . Mama Zeph has played several events in and around Joburg including the acclaimed “Pussy Party”, “Smoking Dragon” and Low End Theory in 2016 with a long running residency at Kitcheners Carvery Bar in Johannesburg. With an extensive background in independent cinema, Mama Zeph curates her sets meticulously around methods of storytelling that are non-conventional and vastly themed. on our 2nd day of the Not Sorry Club Take over , we bring you a mix by  DORMANTYOUTH - who amps up the bass and the pace with a  ferocious blend of bass heavy and rhythmic sonics . 
DORMANTYOUTH is a non-binary (she/her/they/them) post-graduate student at the Graduate School of Architecture (GSA) in Johannesburg, the alias of  Thelma Ndebele. They use this alias as part of her thesis research on sonics as a metric for space and an alternative translation of place . When DJing, they gravitate towards electronically produced music , especially sounds that boom from underground scenes in urban environments. In a DORMANTYOUTH DJ set you can expect to hear Chicago Footwork, UK Drill, Techno, South African Rap, Jersey Club, Baltimore Club, and Electronica - not excluding experimental genres such as Gqom, Ballroom, and Bass music. Their mixing style can be labelled as aggressive, characterised by the climb in tempo, usually from 120bpm to 160bpm during an hour set; blending  tracks from different genres to connect various parts of the wold together in one enclosed and curated room. buckle up and hope you enjoy the mix .

Sanetran is Nadia Sanetra, a Johannesburg-based DJ inspired by otherness and what the future, of especially Africa, sounds like. Influenced by artists throughout dancefloor history who have championed independence, openness and community, Sanetran is interested in expanding boundaries that exist (real and imagined) and inviting and welcoming people who want to share their energy. Nadia is also part of Not Sorry Club, a femme-centric collective aimed at building a more inclusive rave community.
