this took way too long to finish (´；ω；`)ｳｯ…

i started this cover in june of last year. JUNE. for a while, this project went untouched, and in that time my style of tuning had changed quite a bit, so i felt weird trying to post the cover, and I wanted to redo it. thankfully another tuning competition was around the corner, which gave me incentive to actually work on it. i hope you enjoy it!

this is my favorite song from mayumi morinaga and another infinity, and thankfully i found out there is an official instrumental, so i purchased it immediately. i didn’t even know that there was also another version of the song that had miku as the singer! i was so happy trying to tune the song with luo tianyi and realizing it suited her tone of voice almost perfectly. believe it or not, the first time i tuned this with her, the project crashed and i lost everything, so this is actually the third time i’ve tried to make this cover! aha…

i think this song is about someone who is afraid to let other people become close with them, and, because of that, they hurt someone they care about. now they are trying to allow themselves to open themselves back up for that person.

i tried to recreate the logo from the original artwork for the song by NIL, so it’s not exactly accurate, but i think i did a good job. the original art from the song is so cool, though. this doesn’t compare.

So... It's been almost 4 YEARS since my last GUMI Japanese cover, and it wasn't even with her original voice (it didn't even sound like her). So that makes this my first time uploading something with her original voice...

And why exactly am I using her just now? Well, let me first tell you about the song... I can't stress enough how much I like this damn song, it's probably one of my favourite (if not my number 1 favourtie) vocaloid rock songs ever! Not even gems like "Q" or "Finger Pencil" surpass this absolute masterpiece... but that's just my opinion. The point is, one of the things I like the most about it is how "nostalgic" it sounds... Yup, "nostalgic" is the best word I could think of because I wouldn't exactly know how to describe the feeling this song gives me... but to sum up, the 2010 vibes it gave me were so strong that I thought that if I did a GUMI Cover with some 2010 sounding tuning, and added a filter to make her V4 sound like her original V2, I could make it sound even more nostalgic! (I mean, there's not that much of a difference between V4 Native and V2 in comparison to other cases like with Miku V2 and V4, and that's something I really love about GUMI's VBs, I'm just saying she had a special tone in some of the original phonemes that can be easily recreated in the V4 VB... it's just a pitty how her appends sound so different from her original tone...)And so I made this thing... Well, it fulfills its purpose, it sounds pretty 2010-ish to me, I never said it had to be super good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd even say that someone who doesn't know GUMI that much could think this is her V2!

Also, I know some of you might say I should have used her Power VB for the most powerful parts, but I wanted to make this as nostalgic as possible C:

Hello everyone! I have something special to share today! It's a cover of "gears of love" by lettuce and giga, which I have tuned with miss Megurine Luka! As soon as I heard this song, I immediately thought it would be perfect for Luka, right?? This cover is actually for a tuning competition, so I worked so hard on the tuning, that my style actually changed a bit. I feel as though a lot of people don't appreciate Luka's voice, especially her V4x bank, so I wanted to try to make a good example of what using her EVEC properties can sound like too. Because of that, I started tuning in VOCALOID4Editor, then added EVEC properties in Piapro Studio, then did some finishing touches in VOCALOID5Editor; though, I did create the vsqx in Piapro Studio, just because I like having all my notes at a velocity of 32-40 to start off with.

Recently I've been doing this new style for cover art! I kinda dig it! Let's see how many versions of the same cover art I can push out until I run out of options LOL

I still need to find something to use Miku NT for...but that's for another day haha.
