Depuis 2020, Soleil Rouge se caractérise par la rencontre d’esprits souhaitant penser et partager des espaces de création sincères et sensibles au regard des bouleversements que nous connaissons. Premier Rayon résulte de la première édition de Paturia. Un séjour en communauté s’établissant à Mazirat (03), ayant pour cœur la découverte et la promotion d’arts musicaux et visuels.

Following the unpublished works of the Ukrainian/Estonian musician Valentina Goncharova, Volume 2 of Shukai’s archival project sits in direct contrast to the solo works of Vol. 1. Spending her youth studying classical music first in Kyiv and then in Leningrad, Valentina began her musical career with rigorous compositional study and concert violin performance. This long player of duets as such casts a light on Goncharova’s experiences with early free jazz, democratic improvisation and introductions to pure electronic sound. Where Vol. 1 explored her home studio experiments and flirtations with musique concrete and new age, this volume seeks to give audience to similarly DIY recordings developed in collaborative environments away from the conservatoire. Properly documenting sessions revolving around smoky jazz cafes, art galleries, salons and theatre venues across Riga and Tallinn, these seven pieces add to the historical narrative of the soviet era avant-garde and show the broader spectrum of Valentina’s work.

With his move to Klammklang following a series of elegant yet deceptively unsettling noir techno records for Pinkman, Créme Organization and Phonica among the other labels, @art-crime has managed to consistently reinvent his sound, not only retaining the trademark melodism but improving it further and expanding far into the unknown. Composed and produced in a bedroom studio in downtown Moscow his new album exists in a private world apart from previously explored club music tropes. 

A Constant Lack is a testimony to Art Crime's subtle and fragile take on everything avant-garde and experimental. Opening with the hazy and intimate soundscapes of All The Paths To Go Down and ethereal piano samples in Skin Smell, the record then evolves into cascading sequences and imperfect chord progressions evoking the dance floor echoes to culminate with haunting minimalism of album's title piece and dramatic strings of closing track Relapse, A Constant Lack's emotional zenith. It is a brilliantly crafted and carefully selected collection of tracks, a thing of extensive, spellbinding beauty.

‘JAC’ is a collaborative release by Shanghai based Gooooose and Berlin based DJ Scotch Egg. After meeting for the first time at Nyege Nyege Festival, Uganda, in 2019, SVBKVLT brought Scotch Egg to Shanghai for a one week studio session with Gooooose in Jan 2020, just a couple of weeks before Covid-19 took hold. The result is JAC, a 6 track release, including a track with vocal samples from Swordman Kitala, recorded by Scotch Egg during his residency at the Nyege villa, plus remixes from Slikback and Seven Orbits & TSVI and artwork by Andy Rolfes. Very dengrouse!!
