RMA - Feeling Right

Remember beepers? That late 80's technology of receiving a txt note on a little handheld machine. If you carried one of those back in the day you just meant business. You were slinging 50’s at the bar, shouting rounds before running back to work cause there was paper to be made. It was a way of taking your place in the hierarchy. These days we all have iPhones and Samsungs and it's hard to decipher who's where on the scale of good to great. In our case we use music, and we've deduced that this guy is a weapon!

We present to you David Herrlich, the most important person at Box of Cats this week with two club-ready weapons that, in our humble opinion, are worth calling up sick for work for. To be in the very presence of these songs is a gift in itself. Lay down the red carpet for the lead track No More with dank bass leads, mysterious vocals and synth stabs flowing in and out with simplicity. If this one's the perfect late night groove record then the b-side Burn is a straight house weapon. A slamming kick drum, diva vocals and classic M1 piano keeps this grooving from beginning to end. You don’t get a happy house piano line from us often, so take it!

Oh sorry, we have a message coming through on our beeper. It reads: “Stop whatever you're doing and click play on David's new release right now!" So yeah, we gotta go (and so should you)!

We always love to discover talented artists, and as soon as Brazilian producer Lowez appeared on the radar, we were excited to sign a record with her. With previous releases on labels such as Spinnin' Records and Terminal Underground, it was a no-brainer when she sent us her tune Darlin'. This tune is one of those sexy and captivating bump n' groovers we've always enjoyed here at the Hustle HQ. To add even more flava to an already heater of a release, we stacked this one with not one but three remixes. There's no denying we've always had much love for our Brazilian friends, so we've gone all in on this one, featuring remixes from C I C I, GIU, and, of course, our main man in Brazil, Holt 88 himself. Each remix brings a unique flavor to the original, so we are pretty sure you gonna enjoy this release. One thing is certain, you don't wanna sleep on this release.

VNSSA has always had a passion for music even as a child. The Newport Beach native now calls Los Angeles home and has fully immersed herself in the local electronic scene. Although Santa never gave her the turntables she wanted at a young age, she soon found herself drumming in local rock and indie rock bands. From there she learned to DJ, and started performing at local clubs and house parties.

Her debut single was released in early 2018 and she has since released multiple singles and EPs on labels such as Dirtybird Records, Higher Ground, Techne, Rules Don't Apply, Sweat It Out, Realm, and Trippy Ass Technologies, including a Beatport #1 with “Word” a single in collaboration with Walker & Royce on Black Book Records/HotBoi. Catching the platform's attention, she was later named a Beatport “Next” artist, and received further support from tastemaker platforms like This Song Is Sick and Data Transmission.

Her live sets cover the length and breadth of house, breaks, and techno, although don't be surprised to hear some classic disco as well. VNSSA performs regularly at well-known venues all over the world. In addition to playing her own shows, she has performed with numerous prominent acts such as Chris Lake, Claptone, Destructo, Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, Nora En Pure, Dombresky, Walker & Royce, Cassian, Fisher, AC Slater, and many more. 

Most recently, she released murky tech house number “In The Dark” on the first-ever Femme House compilation on Insomniac Records. The eleven-track package is built around the ethos focused on equality and empowerment.  

Looking ahead, VNSSA is set to drop an EP on Diplo's esteemed Higher Ground imprint, a milestone release for this fast-rising talent. She will also perform at some of the biggest festivals in North America in the coming months, including Outside Lands, Imagine Festival, Nocturnal Wonderland, Seismic Dance Event, not to mention her first ever headline tour.

VNSSA does not exist in the world of music because it is her choice, she exists in it because it is her calling.
