I thought it s time to finally relase Musikalisches Unterholz Vol. III.This mix includes only records from switzerland, austria and bavaria.
I grew up in bavaria in the middle of the alps, close to the border to austria. When i started collecting records, i found a lot of records which remembered me of my childhood. I even found more interesting stuff and was overwhelmed from the output from those small countries and areas.

Jan Oben started spinning records in Aachen, where he was bored of the Spotify-playlists running at house parties. He developed from playing with two iPods and a mixer from bulky waste to experienced mixing vinyls on any occasion possible.

After proving himself in organising the „Das ist das Ja“ partyseries, the „Kongress“ bar and the „Kortenbusch“ festival he decide to continue his journey in Leipzig. He formed the „Interlude“ crew and started the radioshow „call it a day“ on Sphere Radio , which takes care of your after work hours. 
At some point he was happy and lucky to get in touch with the Vacanza family. He had his debut on their floor at Tarmac Festival. 

From listening to hip hop in his youth, the samples thew him back to funk and soul and got him in touch with vinyl. He spent the last nine years digging his way through disco and boogie to house and is focused on rhythmic sounds that dissolve the stiff pattern of the four-four time. He is interested in powerful hits on the edge of genres with slight errors and a penchant for unprofessionalism.

His widespread selection enables him to react to different events, moods and locations. You will find him playing different sounds whenever you trip over him so try not to expect anything from him, just trust him. He won't push it, he won't force it, but he will make you feel alright.

His set for Vacanza gets the party started and takes you on an uplifting trip around the globe.

i made this mix for the moment you came back from an intense journey - a festival, a rave or anything gathering many people and many impressions together - like a theatre foyer or a family celebration. where to put these? what to do with them? how to go on?

Ah, sweet sweet summer sun. We better enjoy it all before it gets too unbearably hot, right? A good sunrise is even better when it happens across the sea and when the impending new day isn’t packed with work or other commitments - and this new Messy Mix is dedicated to that special feeling. To capture it I asked Leipzig-based DJ and music lover @giliii who I first met during a party of our mutual friends @stolenmoneyposse and whose sets I’ve been enjoying a lot since then.

However, I quickly noticed that Gili is not just about nice house bangers but has an eclectic musical taste. And the timing for my message to her couldn’t have been better as it collided with her trip to beautiful Sardinia and that elated feeling that you just get when you have just arrived in a beautiful place and know that you will stay there for the next few days. The result is a mixtape that is closely connected to her vacation experience and Gilis thinking and feeling there as she explains:

“With the mix, I wanted to capture the feeling of being in a place where really none of what matters at home should matter there. It's about letting go and yet taking it with you, about arriving and leaving, about being and engaging. The mix musically describes the journey from the slow awakening and getting up, from going out, from the first coffee, the first conversations, the first rays of sunshine, the first laughter, from then getting quite tired again - all in all from the wonderful first hour of a day on vacation in Sardinia.”

The smooth selection includes a few personal favourites like Kelela, Kadhja Bonet, Fatima Al Qadiri but also lots of artists I didn’t know so far like Yaya Bey  or Twit One. I always love to discover new stuff through these mixes and I hope you’ll do. But most of it I hope you’ll have a great time with this sensual soundtrack for the upcoming summer days. I surely will!

Anka is a Leipzig based DJ and part of Italo Fundamentalo. Today we get to meet her other DJ ego bad:belle. From breakbeat and UK garage to ghetto tech, bad:belle takes you into a world full of funky and bouncy sounds. Influenced by dance and chant, she curates colorful and cross-genre sets. According the motto "all killers - no fillers" it's about heating up the dance floor and making people happy!

Since the age of 16 she has been regularly out and about in the subculture and often went to parties. She admires DJs who created atmosphere and so wanted to DJ herself for a long time. But only got access to it when moving to Leipzig. Since 2021/2022 she has been concentrating very much on music. For her, music was and is self-empowerment in a male domain, as well as a catalyst for thoughts and feelings.

The track selection was partly a feminist decision for her.. The mix takes up the debate about the right to self-determination with one's own (female/queer) body. It's about taboo female lust and self-confident handling of "feeling sexy". Based on the song of the same name "only for me", the mix is ​​an appeal for the right to self-determination and against the objectification of FLINTA. It is a plea for the liberation of the female and queer body from any norms and constraints. 
With this mix she wanted to create a musical space where FLINTA could feel sexy, safe and fierce.
