We went a bit ravey with this one, and that's a good thing.

Having just remixed Skream (omg), her style is exactly what we dig. In this remix jacking drums and classic synth chords form a solid foundation on top of a gritty acid bassline

‘Roxanna_Break_Stuff’ incorporates memories of acid bright neons, the ubiquitous smileys, baggy trousers and bucket hats. Pumping drums, funky synth work and a standout vocal edit makes this one a unique and catchy piece of rave music culture.

‘Roxanna_Break_Stuff comes accompanied with a remix by Japan’s rising UK garage producer Stones Taro, who's been featured lately in several places with his on target vinyl releases and precise DJ mixes.

A bit different one is ‘Takedown Request Edit’, which stands out as the deepest track on the release, keeping things eccentric in terms of the rhythm section while bringing in spacey pads to close out the record on a high note.

Having cut her teeth in Melbourne's lively community with her party series Re-Leaf and as a fixture on the Australian club circuit, Aldonna’s sound is clearly supercharged with dancefloor energy. And her passion hasn't gone unnoticed. Cosigns from the likes of BICEP, who tapped her to contribute to their acclaimed ‘Feel My Bicep’ mix series, prove she’s been an artist to watch for some time. Now with her debut EP, she introduces her own distinct sound which traverses seamlessly through nostalgic trance motifs and hyper ravey breaks. Aldonna is clearly making a push to be an unstoppable force in clubland.

The EP leads off with ‘Nights In Shizuoka’ and a rugged rhythm laying the foundation for arpeggiated synths building until a mystical pan flute carries the ballad to heavenly heights.

Arriving on There Is Love On You, following killer releases from Posthuman, Denham Audio and Saturday Night Rush, comes a sci-fi soaked five-tracker spanning headsy techno, proggy-trance and chugging ethereal noise from ‘Us’ founder Desire, who heads the project that aims to ‘shine the light on queer people’ through releases and mixes.

‘Express Self Love’ sounds much like the expression of ecstasy. Spacey atmospheric and ear-wriggle acid lines meet in a dimly lit room with dark techno, electro and trance for a proper heads-down affair. ‘Dernier Souffle’ is a cut of contemporary progressiveness being championed by labels such as Kalahari Oyster Cult and Butter Side Up - minimal, malfunctioning and dubbed-out goodness.

‘Keep Moving’ maintains a meaty bassline that threatens to overflow at almost every turn – moments of celestial high-ends emotional transfixation sparkle amongst the tough-as-nails techno – before ‘Incisiveness’ follows up with what might be the fun-loving twin of its predecessor; a cut of peak moment, intellectual techno-trance.

The tempo comes down on ‘Voyage Infini’; a chugging cut of transcendental synthwave best played as the sun is just coming up.

Morning Light is the new 7-track EP by Naarm/Melbourne (AU) producer Prizefight, featuring 4 originals and 3 remixes by the likes of Naarm favourites Sam Alfred, Cybernet and STÜM. Inspired by a music festival at sunrise, the EP is a gorgeous arrangement of trance and techno cuts that raises the bar for the Naarm New Wave with thoughtful songwriting, immersive production and a distinctly unique sound. Touches of influence from dub and 2-step can be heard throughout the release as Prizefight tastefully utilises these elements without being obvious or overpowering. B from E comes through with a 5 track ep on nascent Danish label BSP Bispebjerg’s fourth release. The opening track Dreamcore was tough to place at first, a slow burn acid trancey breakbeat hardcore throwback, and took a moment for me to get into.  What felt like a slow start at first revealed itself to be the sort of banger you expect to hear when its already light out and nobody cares, partying past the sunrise into the next day with no worries.  

The pace from the first song is continued into This is My House, a swung and housey super monkeyball style banger that is equal parts early 00s playstation game and renegade greenhouse rave.  The playful piano stabs and the silly baseline make you want to skip to the arcade.  The third track  Trancois blindsides you with the purest of calls to masters like orbital and the orb, swelling pads and noodling synthlines get your brain meandering in just the right way.  If this weren’t enough  Main Phase and Lille Høg deliver on remix duty.  Main Phase comes though with a sincere intelligent jungle remix while Lille Høg, who’s track is only available on the digital release follows up a later era feeling garage trance remix.  Overall, this EP is drenched in just the right kind of nostalgia, and while the first track takes a moment to get a handle on, is a treat.

 Under his new alter Ego 'Emotive Response', Thomas Blanckaert (Innershades) will deliver an EP trilogy focussing on Belgian Dance music from mid 1990s till early 2000. 

At the start of the new millennium, clubs were filled by girls in crop tops and Bacardi Breezers & Chupa Chups were common goods on the dancefloor. Trance was at its commercial peak and while Dj's showcased their skills on national television (TMF!), a new group of producers stood up. Thus a lot of Belgian trance gems were made by musicians that later on would hit the pop charts worldwide with so called 'dance formations'. 

The often dramatic and dark melodies that defined their typical sound can be found again in the four club bangers collected on this first EP, called Emotions '95. All given an extra fresh and uplifting signature Thomas is well known from. Strictly vinyl only!
