MR-007 Guyer’s Connection
Guyer’s Connection were a Swiss duo that started making electronic music in 1982.  Tibor Csebits and Philippe Alioth were merely 14 and 15 years old and were armed with simply 2 synths, a drum machine, and a 4-track tape recorder.  They are best known for their highly-sought after self-produced and released album “Portrait” in 1983.  It is now considered a classic minimal synth pop masterpiece.  Several other members joined the band in 1984 and worked together for some time.  Philippe Alioth has been very active in the music business writing, producing, and running a Swiss studio as well as running a Swiss label (Sonic Content).  This extraordinary collection of tracks was discovered in a dark recess of Philippe’s achives of 4-track tapes in his studio.  The tapes were recorded from 1982 to 1984 but were rediscovered in 2005.  A portion of the songs were restored/remixed/remastered.  The German record label Kernkrach released the tracks in 2005 in a limited viny-only pressing of 330 copies.  This sought-after release has long been out of print.  Medical Records in collaboration with Philippe Alioth is proud to present another presentation of these glorious tracks.  Featuring 13 tracks (including several never before released and a few reworked versions of tracks released in 2005), this will appeal to all lovers of minimal synth, electro-pop, flexi-pop, and the like.  Standout tracks include the vocoder tinged “Discoqueen II”, the hyper-catchy “Ar Isch Schon”, and a slightly modified version of “He Sabine!”.  New tracks include an interpretation of a German children’s song and “Macky Messer” featuring words by Kurt Weill.  The LP features newly created front and back artwork. Mannequin is so happy to release under its wings one of the best talents in the minimal synth new scene that you better don’t miss.  
 
We are talking about the serbian duo Sixth June – Laslo Antal and Lidija Andonov – who are rising from the mostly unknown music scene in Belgrade but nowdays re-based in the analog paradise called Berlin.  
 
Sixth June started their musical adventure back in 2007 and in their tracks you can let your heart listen their deep influence for everything that has a synthesizer sound and found its origin in the Eighties; the duo represents perfectly the two sides of the same coin, in fact while Laslo is producing obscure but expressive, powerful and danceable textures, on the back side the voice of Lidija is living the shape to a wobbling atmosphere you won’t escape from. 
 
Their debut album “Everything”  released on Genetic Music’s side label No EBM Blanc had 
got an enormous positive feedback from  the Minimal Electronics-fans worldwidethey were 
playing live at BIM Belgian Fest 2010 in December 2010 togheter with Absolute Body 
Control, Portion Control, Twice A Man and many other amazing bands.

This time they went to a professional studio, Ocean Sound in Fort Lauderdale with the intention of releasing an album, which never materialized. This is the version of "Lonely Streets" that came out of those sessions. The Halloween Dream EP finds the Welsh genre-agnostics further expanding their uncategorised sound, launching from a base of drum machine beats and sequenced synths into the realms of the indie rock anthem and beyond.

Lead track Delta Rain is a swooning slice of atmospheric electronica, propelled by a juddering bassline and augmented with gossamer guitar. An anthemic ode to anywhere that feels like home, singer Michael describes it as “a love song dedicated to a place rather than a person.”

October Kind is an elusive, intricate labyrinth of piano and guitar jangle, where tightly harmonised vocals are draped across an ever-shifting musical landscape. Conjuring an otherworldly atmosphere, the band call it “a catalogue of Autumnal memories and the intangible feelings they inspire.”

The EP is rounded out by a warped cover (the band’s first) of Super Furry Animals’ 1998 cult favourite The Man Don’t Give A Fuck. Twisting the original into new shape, the duo finds a new sense of aggression and intensity in contrast to moments of sublime serenity. “Gruff Rhys called this an all-purpose protest song” says multi-instumentalist Jon, “and there’s plenty to protest right now.”

Also included on the Bandcamp exclusive version of the release are Midnight Mass, a brand new demo for an epic spoken-word post-rock tune, and a striking instrumental version of The Man Don’t Give A Fuck.

The Halloween Dream EP was written, recorded, mixed and produced at home by childhood friends and longtime collaborators Jon (music) and Michael (words). Their purposeful DIY ethic, inspired by bands they sound nothing like, has so far spawned two albums (2022’s Un Diavolo In Casa and 2024’s Luminism) as well as a recent run of four standalone singles which they plan to extend to a series of ten. “We thought we’d release ten singles in about a year but we’re almost a year in and only at the halfway point. Deciding to make EPs instead of singles and making videos for every song has probably slowed us down a touch.”
