Recorded live in Berlin with two turntables, a mixer, records and Serato for digital files.

Occupying the disparate 'no-man’s land' between murky, atmospheric techno and experimental bass-laden electronica, Osiris protagonist Killawatt provides a no-nonsense and increasingly forensic attitude towards exploratory production. 

Rugged syncopations built through enduring lamentation over macro-level granular synthesis are favoured, reinforced with lacerating modular drum patterns amidst amplified hiss and crackle. Drums appear constrained from locking into place, a signature dynamism demonstrated through recent material including “Contort” & “Émigré”. Stumbling percussion and clouds of texture are sculpted into head-nodding loops, with generous applications of sub-bass holding momentum. // Killawatt provides cinematic immersion through layered carpets of hiss, a soup of mewling feedback and a distorted ability in preventing the most discerning of listener from getting too comfortable. 

The transition from dank half step to a kinetic techno mutation compatible with everyone from Shackleton to Shifted is now complete. An academic approach coalesces a mongrel helix of industrial techno, hypnotic ambient constructions and cerebrally probing tribalism evident in recent abstractions like “Poppin' Veins” and “Blackhole Flamenco”. // “Killawatt’s thunderous racket verges on the apocalyptic without a whiff of the grandiose” - Andrew Ryce (RA)

''Rob asked me to do a mix of “influences” some time ago, but a redundancy got in the way of doing it before (sorry babes!)

I had to think quite a lot about what “influences” meant to me. All the tracks in this mix have inspired or influenced me, but it’s by prompting me to keep exploring my own way of working, rather than necessarily emulating what they’ve done. These are only a handful of the 100s of tracks and pieces of music I could have chosen, all of which in some way made me think, and make me continue to think, creating music is one of the best things in the world to do.''

Brevity is an underrated concept, so have gone in for a mixtape-quality 75 minutes. This is electronic only - no classical, no acoustic (sorry Slapp Happy), no rock, no roll. Looking at the tracklist, it’s quite poppy, so apologies this time if you’re expecting a supercool white label bangers-only mix. All track fades, silences and volumes are intentional.
