Valentin Ginies has dedicated much of his life to music - a journey that has seen him play piano and drums before switching to a hardware setup, also taking to the decks at a young age. 
He founded 11001 Records, a Berlin-based record label focusing on techno, ambient, experimental and other forms of abstract visions, but his music has also been released in Circular Limited, Futurepast and BAHN· Records.
Valentin's also the co-founder of the Teufelsberg Domecast, one-half of the Live Deep Techno duo @metaphysical-unit and the founder of Third Eye Festival, a three-day music and paint festival in Berlin. His passion and extensive music collection can be felt in the DJ booth, blending a selection of deep, rhythmic and trippy techno.

AF Premiere: Valentin Ginies - Luminous Dreams [11001 Records][OUT!! 02.07.25]

Close your eyes & imagine a scene unfolding in front of you - the air is cold & crisp, your breath barely visible in the darkness as you exhale, the warm air in your lungs condensing into clouds of fog as it leaves your body. Everything is quiet & the trees sit still around you, all of the sounds gently muffled, other than a faint warm rumble of sub frequencies, somewhere in the distance. You can’t quite pinpoint it but you follow the sound as your feet softly crunch down on frozen earth. As you get closer, you suddenly notice a mysteriously intriguing concrete structure start to appear in the forest. Lights glowing from windows partly shrouded in freshly fallen snow, resembling an abandoned bunker, eerie but peaceful. The music invites you towards it, so you open the door & step in. Immediately you’re enveloped by warm, humid air & hit with a full spectrum of sound, as if the opening of the door was the opening of a low pass filter. 

For this week’s Delayed with edition, we welcome Berlin-based artist Valentin Ginies with a special recording from this bunker in the woods. You may be familiar with Valentin already, as the man behind 11001 Records, or through the festival he organizes outside of Berlin, Third Eye Festival. Last December, he was lucky enough to play an all night long set at this mysterious venue, after the first big snowstorm of the year, with 1 meter of snow on the ground. Aptly named Concrete, the venue is as discreet as it gets, an intimate, minimalist space with no signage on the outside, tucked away in the mountains of a small village in the Japanese Alps called Hakuba, just outside the city of Nagano in Japan. The recording consists of the first 2 hours of his set, where he slowly & steadily drew people into the space, setting the tone for what was to come.

Each song revolves around an object in outer space:

A1 RYUGU
Ryugu is the name of an asteroid. In June 2018, a japanese spacecraft called 'Hayabusa2' landed on it, took some measurements and samples and has been heading back to earth since November 2019. The goal is to know what asteroids carry with them across the universe. If they carry water this could explain how life is spreading in the cosmos. A2 QUASAR
A Quasar also known as a quasi-stellar object, is an extremely luminous active galactic nucleus, in which a supermassive black hole with mass ranging from millions to billions of times the mass of the Sun is surrounded by a gaseous accretion disk. They are capable of emitting hundreds or even thousands of times the entire energy output of our galaxy, making them some of the most luminous and energetic objects in the entire universe.

B1 SEDNA
Sedna is a large planetoid and possible dwarf planet in the outer reaches of our solar system. Its surface is one of the reddest among Solar System objects. It is a possible dwarf planet. It has an exceptionally long and elongated orbit, taking approximately 11,400 years to complete and a distant point of closest approach to the Sun at 76 AU. Understanding its unusual orbit is likely to yield valuable information regarding the origin and early evolution of the Solar System. Scientists continue speculations on its origins of this trans-Neptunian object.

B2 NAMAKA
Namaka is the smaller, inner moon of the dwarf planet Haumea at a distance of 25,600 kilometres. It takes 18 Earth-days for the moon to complete one orbit around the dwarf planet. Discovered on 30 June 2005 it was named after Nāmaka, the goddess of the sea in Hawaiian mythology and one of the daughters of Haumea. Photometric observations indicate that its surface is made of water ice.

NIX (Digital Only)
Nix is a natural satellite of Pluto, it was named after Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night. It’s the third moon of Pluto by distance, orbiting between the moons Styx and Kerberos. Pluto's smaller moons, including Nix, were thought to have formed from debris ejected from a massive collision between Pluto and another Kuiper belt object, similarly to how the Moon is believed to have formed from debris ejected by a large collision of Earth.
