note from ryan: "Lucas is a Seattle boy who gives equal attention to sounds, melodies and rhythm. His sounds range from crickets to video game SFX; melodies are jazzy but as full of emotion as something from Shlohmo... or emo Blink 182 era; but his drums kind of beat you to a pulp. I think he's really part of this next movement that's going to be run by producers who grew up caring more about rock and R&B than dance music."

Melatonin (pronounced mɛləˈtoʊnɪn) known chemically as N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, is a naturally occurring compound found in animals, plants, and microbes. In animals, circulating levels of melatonin vary in a daily cycle, thereby regulating the circadian rhythms of several biological functions. The melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the sleep-wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature.

Out Of The Cloud is some sort of full circle for me. It’s a disclosure from the last EP when we moved from the house next to the junkyard and a fabric that made coffins (from the period I wrote Jane’s Junkyard.) We moved to a village at the border of the Veluwe. I grew up in a similar village near the dunes at the other side of the country, so returning to nature has become a returning point to truly realize where I come from.

Out Of The Cloud is the transition between leaving all the bad things behind and moving on. Finally in nature again, finding peace, tranquility and balance in our lives. The isolation confronted me a lot for who I am. This mini-album is a metaphor for escaping and leaving super dense urban areas and enjoying and accepting the great wide open.
