Island (feat. Jay Senior)

The Roland TR-808 drum machine is a significantly influential drum machine, heard on anything classified as electronic, hip hop or popular music since its release in 1980. 
The Make Noise 0-Coast is a semi-modular, single-voice desktop synthesiser that utilises both West Coast and East Coast synthesis in its sound generation.

The 8-0-Coast sample pack was devised and created as part of my university studies. The intent was to re-create and re-interpret the drum sounds of the 808, using the TR808, Roland's TR8, and Ableton's Designer Drums pack as reference points.

The sounds on this pack were designed entirely on the 0-Coast, with no additional effects or processing.

this was performed live at a joypad set in 2021. the instrumental came before the vocal, so i cut up lil ugly mane's parts from breeze em out, and the hook from twistin (i think that's eazy-e?) and used it to make something resembling a song. it's a remix i think.

this started as a kimonono demo. when i pulled the pin on that band, i took an old version of the demo and was preparing it for my joypad set in 2021. i never played it live as i thought it was a bit too inconsistent with the rest of my set.

i still want to figure out how to use this instrumental somehow in a proper song. oh well
