Perhaps this was the way it was meant to be, although it did seem bittersweet that he might get to wake to a brand new day whilst another may not.

The record showcases both musicians versatility and unique approach to sound design. This track is a reimagined version from the record by Chris Korda.

“Thyia” is an ethereal, acid-house track infused with floating breakbeats and fuzzy vintage-sounding synthesis. Pitter-pattering white noise accents the percussion, while reverb-laden claps occasionally crash across the audio spectrum. The track is a gradual crescendo that ebbs and flows like a powerful tide pulling rocks back into the sea. 

Featured predominantly in “Thyia” are the sounds of the Roland TB-303. To Ho Megas, adding a 303 to his music only makes sense since, after all, he lives in the 303 - the area code of Denver, Colorado. “I can’t say it was a conscious decision to be interested in the TB-303 while living in the 303. More it made sense to use the 303 for the sound I was trying to create,” says Ho Megas. “Then I thought, ‘Huh, why aren’t we talking about the 303 more in the 303, especially with so many 303 sounds in the 303?”   Denver is emerging as an important city for house music - a genre of music that’s used the sounds of the TB-303 predominantly for nearly its entire history. On top of boasting globally iconic DJs week in and week out, Denver also has a local legacy that goes back to the early ‘90s. It is also the headquarters of Beatport, the popular online electronic music store. As a result of this long history, Denver now boasts hundreds of people who either DJ or produce music that features the sounds of the 303. 

He believes this is only a matter of time until Colorado becomes a globally recognized hub for local grown house music like it did for other types of electronic music. “The scene is thirsty. There are shows almost every night of the week, often with conflicts. There is also so much talent here signed to some really incredible labels,” notes Ho Megas. “Clearly, Colorado has had success fostering homegrown talent in other electronic music genres, so I think it’s only a matter of time here. For example, the bass scene is ranked behind maybe only Bristol and London in terms of prestige. Therefore, I think it’s only a matter of time until some talent from the 303 starts emerging on a global level since house music is starting to be in Denver what bass music was in 2010.”

Permanent Vacation is very happy to bring you the debut EP of our long-time friend Sara Miller, hailing from Berlin via Ireland. For years Sara has been involved in club culture and its different aspects: from organising her own “Naive Melodies” parties and DJing in the city's best venues to working as a sound engineer and finally producing her own music. Following Sara's acclaimed debut track “Orange Sea”, which was part of the Permanent Vacation 7 compilation, it's now time for her first full EP titled “Lunar Theory”. On the EP's four tracks, Sara has drawn inspiration from her broad musical knowledge and years of DJing experience and party wizardry. You can detect influences from classic 90's house, breakbeat, Italo and Acid in her tracks, all combined into a fresh and sparkling result. But music is not the only source of inspiration for this notorious night owl; nighttime and its celestial companion, the moon, are equally important to Sara’s work. So “Lunar Theory” is a sonic journey that attempts to reflect the movements of the moon. Four phases of moonlight manoeuvres written after dark.

Emotional Rescue completes its final Konduko reissue series, coming to possibly Noel Williams’ best electro cut, Fantasy.  Teaming up again with Larry Dermer (aka Der Mer), from Fall Out fame, they crafted a straight-up electro jam that pushed the BPMs and hyped the vocoder to the max.
Released in 1984, Fantasy heralded a new direction that Williams’ had been exploring, the heavy bass his trademark, now showcased around tight, emulated TR-808 beats, accentuated snare, “Planet Rock” stabs, and a futuristic, yet mournful melody, the punchy vocals delivered in distorted vocoder style exemplify time and space (is the place).
Highlighted further in the Instrumental mix, the scratches and whistle refrain shine, while the driving rhythm made this a DJ hit, before going on to be influential in the later Miami Bass sound.  This stripped version was heard from Downtown NY to the incoming Techno City of Detroit, and with it hugely influential in what followed.
To complete the label asking artists and producers long admired to bring their updated take on Williams’ catalogue, DJ, editor and sea of positivity, Jonny Rock comes correct with a respectful, looped and refreshing reversion-excursion.  Showing his increasing editing dexterity that has seen him take a rightful seat at the higher table, his long form Discomix is the perfect closing of this series and the whole project, bringing Konduko, Noel Williams aka King Sporty’s music to life again.

Red Pig Flower delivers her ‘We Need Space’ EP via Switzerland’s Adam’s Bite thisOctober, comprising four original compisition’s from the Korean-Japanese artist.
The past decade has seen Red Pig Flower’s unfaltering drive and ambition as a producer and DJ take her across the globe to play at hotspots all over, from Berlin’s Panorama Bar
and Hoppetosse to Tokyo’s WOMB, Concrete Bar Seoul, Pikes Ibiza and beyond. On top of this Red Pig Flower has a growing back catalogue of releases and co-runs the Tokyo based Sound Of Vast imprint alongside Knock. Here though, we see Red offering up her
new EP via Swiss imprint Adam’s Bite, home to music from the likes of Nu Zau, Barac,
Cristi Cons, Traumer and Ion Ludwig, a perfect home for her psychedelia infused stripped back house sound.
Up first is the original version of title-track ‘We Need Space’, a merging of winding bass grooves, skippy percussion, modulating, bubbling synths ebbing and flowing amongst one another while a hypnotic, spoken word vocal winds within the groove throughout. An instrumental version follows next, as the name would suggest, pulling back the vocal elements for a more robust, drum driven feel.
‘Separation’ then opens the flip-side with a more frenzied feel via and amalgamation of vacillating synth flutters, dubbed out percussion and bumpy low-slung drums which all dynamically evolve and retract throughout. ‘The Feeling’ then completes the EP, diving back into deeper realms with murky atmospherics, vocal chants and gritty stabs at its core, underpinned by a bouncy stab led bass groove and crisp, crunchy drums.
