The entire EP is a bold exploration into the potential of East African sound. It strives to encompass a new future, create a template and inspire those who listen to it to trust their vibrations and the vibrations that the world is placing them on. It is for this reason that the name is derived from Wolfgang Mozart’s second name, Amadeus, then Africanised into Amadeyo – foregrounding the contribution that Jinku hopes to one day achieve in Africa, then the world.

Amadeyo was planned out as a cohesive story. Throughout its production the concept of self-emancipation has constituted the foundation of the EP. Different elements of freedom of self are expressed through the varying sounds of each record, although the ultimate message is that freedom is about being true to self and pursuing what one loves.

SAFARI is a journey when translated from swahili. 
I am on a journey and so are so many other young girls and women not just across the continent but across the globe. When we go on a journey, we pack clothing to suit the trip. We make these wardrobe choices based on the weather, the destination amongst other factors. One of the things that I have to curate when getting ready for travel is my playlist and my clothes because those two things really matter. When I have the right music and have the right wardrobe in my case, only then am I really on SAFARI.  Kevin Leicher of Dark Studios showcases his ‘Live’ Acoustic Guitars on SAFARI, flirting with  Percussion and a blend of live keyboards while the Bass & drums bring SAFARI to life.

BRIEF BIO

Musical earthling, world citizen, peace lover, poet & artist; Zikki is a songwriter with a guitar and a story, fusing African and modern influences.

  Zikki tells stories of everyday life through her music in an eclectic mix which she calls Urban Fusion, sampling influences from Afro-soul, Electronica, Zouk & Nusoul.

Her compilation EP entitled 'GET IT' was released in January 2015.

Current projects in the works include releasing her second EP 'The Camouflage Sessions', a subsequent tour & collaborations.
