Black Moon On A Lyft Ride

Made from recordings of wine glasses. This is a basically a recording of what happened while playing an EMU sampler and mixing it. No edits were made other than cutting it's length.

01 3 Section

I used to live in an old storefront on Division St. in Chicago. It was cold all the time. The room where I did most of my work was huge and had concrete walls with cork board on three sides. The room sounded great regardless of the cold. This is one of the performances that I recorded.

I set up large cinder block bricks in the middle of the room mic'd with two sm-81's overhead. As I played with the bricks, rubbing, dropping, dragging, and tapping them. The sound was processed simply with Max/MSP and output into the room. I recorded the activity and processing with separate mics as an audio document of this activity.

02 Bricks On The 23rd

There was an old organ in a small shack in the woods. It had broken bellows and ivory keys. I tried to bring out the wooden body of the object by pumping the foot pedal vigorously. There are recordings from a house on Lexington St in Chicago of myself blowing through a mangled metal horn, a sprinkling of random midi piano notes, recordings of an old emu synthesizer oscillating, and a a delayed tape loop.

Exclusions from a Landscape

The mix is made from recordings of a gut bucket played through max/msp and fed back into the gut bucket. I wrote and recorded the text in a nice sounding closet.
