Mix: Songs To Chill To vol. 11

In this audio Chief Bill Williams, the great grand-nephew of Sewiṉchelwet Sophie Frank, speaks to the lineages and contexts of his great aunts life and weaving practice.  At the Gallery this audio is presented alongside her baskets, works by other Sḵwx̱wú7mesh weavers and paintings by Emily Carr, with whom she was friends for 33 years. This room forms the center of  the exhibition "lineages and land bases" (06.15.20-08.30.20)curated by Tarah Hogue.

Founded in 1931, the Vancouver Art Gallery is recognized as one of North America’s most respected and innovative visual arts institutions.
