The depth of the forest was unknown to those who lived at its verge. Shadows cast from the dense canopy seemed to reach out towards those who passed close by, wisps of darkness unfurling and twisting around the limbs of the youngest that dared to play at its sinister edge. The oldest stories of its roots passed across the creaking voices of the town pensioners hunched in the safety of others, discretely whispered and shot through with fearful looks. The allure of that dense and ancient place stretched back eternal, and bitter consequence waited for those who breached its dark heart.  The crew ignored the nonsense of such crones, pulling the carts of equipment under the cover of dusk until the sounds of the town were but a memory. The speaker stacks were raised against the night, strings of lights hung between the trees and purity of disturbed bass rolled against the surrounding trunks as they disentangled themselves from the mundane fiber of the lives they left behind. Twisting against one another as they let flood serotonin delight, they ignited an orgy of sonic symbiosis as the rave found its wings and took flight. The spores drifted imperceptibly into the clearing from the darkness around, lodging without discomfort in the eyes, ears and noses of the gathered young. And then the screaming started, the undulating mass of the gathering turned inward… devouring itself as limbs were separated from bodies, necks ripped as skin tore loose and the blood flowed freely over the gnashing faces of those left alive at the KILL PARTY…

From the old-school drenched piano and ultrafunk of the title track, to the playful sinister intent of PRIMITIVE INSTINCT, the filthy sub explorations of PROBLEM and the predatory sensibilities of IKRA – the 4 tracks within display the dynamic and exploratory character of the production outfit. This is Russian neurofunk at its finest, delivered on the platform that’s tailored exactly to the premiere kinetic nature of its content.

As one of the imprint’s most recognisable figureheads, Mindscape deftly demonstrates why that’s the case with the 4 tracks within delivering distinct and succinctly powerful ideas to the table. MANBEARPIG carries a swagger dripping with pure and deliberately paced attitude, whilst SHUT DOWN (feat. COPPA) rides on a fast-moving bassline and percussive flurry. Ukrainian drum & bass producer Dub Head first began his career as part of the Cybernetic crew in Kiev. His industrial, scientific spin on the genre has since gained him international attention. From his ‘Entropy’ release on imprint Syndrome Audio through to his ‘Bad Signal’ EP on Dispatch Recordings a year later, he’s risen through the charts of trendsetting outlets and has become a sought-after name across set lists. With support from the likes of Noisia, DLR, Icicle and DJ Hype, it’s understandable why his forthcoming album would be welcomed into the catalogue of Dispatch Recordings.

Returning to the imprint for another paradigm shaping output, he stays to his characteristic, carefully honed sound to present his ‘Bring you back online’ LP.

Featuring eight new tracks, Dub Head has pulled together some of his most refined work and with Dispatch having had such an impact on the beginning of his ascent, it was the perfect platform for him to reveal the project.

The percussion heavy sounds of its title-track allow the listener to become aware of what’s to come throughout its track listing, whilst ‘Badboysound’ carries you through on top of rolling breaks and weighty kick drums. Following these cuts, ‘What’s happened’ uses warbling bass notes to cut through its atmospherics, providing yet another darker tone to the collection. Russian producer Eastcolours then joins Dub Head on ‘Switch off’ with its expert synth work. For the next collaboration, Scepticz delivers ‘Minds out the atmosphere’ alongside Dub Head, adding Gusto’s growling vocals. ‘Rust activator’ with hotly tipped newcomer M.Justa offers another side to Dub Head’s uncompromising production standard, bringing their technical prowess together. A pioneer of the deep Russian sound, Black Barrel is the next high-profile addition to the album and together they submerge you in ‘Terminal’. Finally closing with an instrumental of ‘Minds out the atmosphere’, Dub Head walks you through the music he’s been engineering for the last year and as a result, Dispatch pedestals one of his biggest bodies of work.

The artist has become a staple of the Dispatch Recordings roster and the high-quality demonstrated throughout ‘Bring you back online’ proves why.
