For this months Don’t Meet Me At the Club, Sleepy James brings you a very special show. An Ode to Wire. A famous, small, basement club in the centre of the city of Leeds. With a low ceiling, small archways and lighting running across the dance-floor above the punters, Wire is more than just a clubbing landmark of the north.

Unarguably one of the best clubs to have lived for the last 15-20 years in England. Sadly this summer we will see Wire close its doors for good. 

As Sleepy James spent most weekends partying (staying up late, awake!) at Wire, it is befitting that this month’s show is dedicated to this cultural music hub of the north. 

The show consists of tracks that Sleepy James heard at Wire during his time in Leeds, as well as stories told about nights spent there. These tracks shaped Sleepy James’ musical identity and ultimately led to the birth of Don’t Meet Me At the Club. So, thank you Wire for all the good times and the memories.
