One Night's Standards Set

It was a two-month debate with myself deciding whether to release it or not. At the end I concluded "It may not be the greatest hit, but I'm still proud of myself and the level of production I am achieving..". Thank God I got to that conclusion...

Taking this decision gave me the confidence that I was needing to continue pursuing my dreams as a musician, and it helped me realized that putting too much pressure on myself comparing my production skills with other respectable artists (without considering their music trajectory vs. mine) will only lead to depression and low self-esteem.

After releasing this little monster, I received many feedback from amazing music lovers and artists that helped me see my work from other's perspective. Thanks those reactions, I received the push and motivation that I was needing to continue working on my craft day after day. Since then, I haven't stopped working, practicing and improving, and I can't see the end.

This track is so special because it is a lesson that I resume with the following phrase: "Being an artist is a journey, not a destination."

I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. And if you do, please like it and share it with your friends. Your support is invaluable to me and I will be entirely grateful!!

I caught myself wondering why is it that music, being such an immense channel of mass communication, is limited to promoting solidarity and help to the less fortunate. It promotes peace, awareness, and happiness in our lives, which is something that I LOVE but, what about those that have less? We live in a world with so many differences that I don't understand if it's unfair or it is just how it is supposed to be... People living in different environments sharing the same purpose, survival and replicate. 

I decided to start this new podcast series in my Soundcloud channel called "Alter Reality" in order to expose and create conscience of these parallel worlds. With music and photography, I hope to raise awareness to give back and make people become more grateful with the things and opportunities that life has provided them.

This first episode is made in collaboration with the photographer and friend Andres Miolan from the Dominican Republic who captured this precious moment of a girl who uses a bucket over her head to transport water from the river to her family under the bright sun rays of the shiny Dominican island. 

Another collaboration for this episode is with the non-profit organization Aspiras who dedicate their work to provide opportunities to the young generation of developing communities through soccer, education and social inclusion to promote a better future for themselves and their communities.

Alter Reality for Aspiras Foundation

Hey friends!

I decided to upload my set for the March's edition of Wild As The Moon with Acid Pauli, Geju, Sam Shure, Sven Dohse and many more..

We walked from The Gardens of Babylon 's family meeting to the Main Room of De Marktkantine where I had to take everyone from their dancing feet into a meditative state of mind with my music.

This event was big challenge for me because, once again, I had to push my musical boundaries and curate new music that could help me create this new atmosphere in the room. I explored new styles and dived deep into the realm of electronic music to play something different from what I use to play, and offer something special.

I am really grateful with everyone that shared with me this special moment. You guys don't understand how happy each on of you make me.

To break some barriers of the 'music industry', I decided to give away some of my unreleased projects from my early stage of producing. 

Produced in the early months of 2017, I decided to call it Solid Love as a dedication to the music, and it's been hiding in my hard-drive since then.

Every time I stepped on to this file I opened the track and enjoyed it (a lot). For this reason, I decided to share this piece with the world.

Solid Love

After an intense opening meditation from our Spiritual Guide Villia, I had the chance to open the stage for the night at one of the most respected and acclaimed clubs in Amsterdam, De Marktkantine. 

This night turned out to be a really wild night, as the name says, we went Wild As The Moon. The intensity was so high that the recording machine of had troubles during the night, but luckily for me I have the first hour of my set recorded.

After some thought, I decided to share this with all of you since this night was a really special one.

Across the globe, people are imprisoned for reasons we can't even begin to imagine, and or understand... 

Every year Amnesty organizes the Write for Rights campaign, to send out thousands of letters to those that should walk in freedom. 

The Gardens of Babylon and Amnesty International Nederland teamed up to raise awareness on this situation and gather as many signs as possible during The Gardens of Babylon x Amnesty's Write for Rights where I participated with my music alongside Patrice Baumel, DJ Isis, Kraut and Spaceandtime.

VANDER [DJ Set] at The Gardens of Babylon x Amnesty's Write for Rights

After a week of adventures with countless smiles and laughs it was time for me to play at the majestic Cobra Cana stage. For the whole week, this stage was bouncing with energy non-stop. From day one it was building this incredible and unique vibe, something I have never experienced before. It was mental.

The last day that we all saw the Cobra (before they burned the structure) our Peacocks crew consisting of TantRut, Lev Tatarov, Deep Schismic, Joep Mencke, Rammo and the Parallells had the honour to play there and host the last party. And, ohhhh what a party we had. 

Inspired by the light of the stars, the intense energy of the dancefloor, and all the incredible outfits of the people, I felt I was on another planet and so my music.

Oh wow, I don't even where to start to explain how much this means for me...

For those who don't know, The Gardens of Babylon has been my nest since I moved to Europe and has been my family ever since. In The Gardens of Babylon, I grew not only as an artist but also as a human being and for that, I am very grateful.

Being involved in this festival since it was just a dream and watching this 'idea' evolved and turn into a reality has been so enriching for me. It's one of those things that gave me hope and made me more than a dreamer. It made me a believer. 

This festival made me believe that dreams actually turn into reality if you allow them.

Don't believe me? Well, this closing set is the perfect example of a manifestation. Of a dream turning into reality. Of me believing that one day I would be there sharing my love and passion for music with my favorite souls of this world.

I can't express my gratitude enough to the universe and everyone that made this a reality. I am also very glad that I can share with all of you this story and hopefully made you believe even more in the powers of the universe.

It's time for Mynox and Vander to join forces again on their 'Petite Fleur' EP. Produced mostly during Vander's visits to Istanbul in 2019, 'Petite Fleur' and 'Cienlunares' explore dreamy and organic soundscapes. Both tracks seamlessly merge Vander's distinct grooves with the dreamy guitars of Mynox.

'Petite Fleur' blends deep and tribal grooves with atmospheric guitar sounds, travelling all around the sound field. The moog bassline growls gently underneath, supporting the rich harmonies with its soothing tone. We find ourselves floating in an ever-changing soundscape complemented by fluffy melodies.

'Cienlunares' ventures subtly into flamenco territory, making use of hopping rhythms that evoke the relentless energy of latin music. The longing melody of the guitar dances over a deep bassline and catchy percussions.

Staying true to his delicate melodic touch, Amsterdam-based producer Joep Mencke delivers a gorgeous cinematic rendition of 'Petite Fleur'. With this remix. The orchestration is moving and bright throughout the piece, showcasing Joep's sound design abilities.

Mexican-duo The Soul Brothers make their first appearance on Art Vibes with a minimalistic and dancefloor friendly rework of 'Cienlunares'.

After the 2019 launch of The Gardens of Babylon’s record label we find ourselves in a very different world. Last year’s compilation was a musical snapshot of a physical festival experience with contributions coming from those who were there. This year, the compilation assumes a different role – a sonic journey through the times, memories, and loved ones we miss, as well as a sense of comfort as we look to reunite on a dancefloor somewhere around the world...

‘The Monastery’ 2020 draws contributions from friends and family, developing its narrative from the opening percussion of Menachem 26’s ‘Kumkapi Blues’ through the closing euphoria of Glauco di Mambro’s ‘Solar Safari’. Along the way, each track reads as a different chapter, transporting listeners to the sea of smiles that make up The Monastery Festival Experience. These chapters break down the weekend, encapsulating the emotions of its many facets, locations, and feelings. With ‘Light On The Road,’ Ali Farahani sets palpable anticipation, leading into the jazzy breaks of Gorje Hewek's ‘Der Geist Seiner Zeit’. Then, Maga’s delicately brooding ‘Muzike’ (feat. Arc) makes way for the gently rising piano of Parallell’s ‘Everybody Knows’. By the time, Derun’s ‘Los Caminos de Sirkedji’ hits, things start getting twisty, day turns to night, and ‘The Monastery’ is in full swing. From here, Amine K, Niko Schwind, Noraj Cue & unders, Dauw, Madmotormiquel, and Headwaters expand consciousness through mythical, hypnotic offerings – some low slung, some deep, dark, and driving. This is where resident VANDER’s ‘Can’t Get No Sleep’ drops and sums up the experience perfectly, interjecting fresh funk into groovy percussion, before giving way to after-hour vibes courtesy of KRAUT, Franca, and Sound Shapes...
