sweet song and laid out sweet on the bed
hours without rest and billowing like the night
god entered into my body
like a body my same size
like me floating into you
or you floating into me
commandments that met their fate
and crumbled like warm foetus
chained around their neck
fresh from birth
wriggling for the morning
like we were my god
like all that crumbles
flayed to the touch as a foal
now in the woods i hear silence
and what it once was commands me
i couldn’t grieve the birds but i mimic
like the lyre bird
a toy gun or the sound of machines
fickle objects whose breath now permeates the woodlands
vain cries that covered up the silence
and smothered your word oh god
i miss the morning star
oh fever dream
dream of prolonged moments
coagulated spit and pus on the floor
washed and washed again
